A Letter from the Village President
Rockets Win!!

Congratulations to our Rockets Football Team! Last Friday night the Rockets played Murphysboro in the IHSA Class 4A State Championship game. The Rockets dominated with a 50-14 victory and was the first Rockets team ever to go 14-0 for the season. Hundreds of Rockets' fans attended the game at the NIU Huskie Stadium in DeKalb. I’m very proud of our community, young and old, who braved the cold wet evening to cheer them on.

Also, congratulations to head coach Mike Noll and his assistants, the players who worked hard all season to be the best, and to the fans and community who support our Rockets. The village board will be honoring them on Tuesday, December 17, at the Village Board meeting held at the Municipal Centre at 6:00 PM, where I will be proclaiming December 15 - December 21 as "Richmond Burton Community High School Rockets Football Week".
You FINISHED perfectly.
Go Rockets!

Blast from the Past
Joe Wagner, who was born in 1881, was the grandchild of Mattas and Anna M. Nett Wagner, early German emigrants who settled in Spring Grove. Joe, seated in the driver's seat with his friend Leonard Franzen, (and in photo in his later years), was a well respected citizen of Spring Grove. He served as Village President from 1919-1928, village trustee from 1938-1947, township clerk, and was an active member of the fire protection district for 20 years. His barber shop and confectionery store was home to the post office and a branch of the Arlington Heights National Bank. He gave out many loans and advice over the years and was "well-qualified to administrate and arbitrate the affairs of his townsman" as noted in his obituary from 1947.
