Unclaimed coats at studio

Long lost coats

Do I belong to you?

...a coat or jacket? The studio coat closet is overflowing with unclaimed outerwear. Take a close look at this photograph. If you recognize a coat or jacket as yours, please come and claim it now. The weather will soon turn cold, and you'll need it. We will donate any coats and jackets that are left over.

Job opportunities

New! Ceramics instructor

We are seeking career ceramicists interested in teaching at our modern, fully equipped studio during the winter/spring, 2025, term. November 15 is the deadline for application. If you wish to be considered, please send your bio and images of your work to Kay Yourist.

Studio intern

We're interviewing potential studio interns for fall and winter to help with studio maintenance in exchange for studio use. The successful applicant should know how to mix glaze, load kilns, mop floors, and perform other typical studio duties. An internship is a great experience and resume building opportunity. Please send a letter of interest, including your previous pottery studio experience, to Kay Yourist.

Pottery pickup

Our bisque and glazed ware shelves are filling up fast in preparation for the holiday season, so we must move earlier pieces on to make room for the latest ones. Here is our deadline for picking up bisque and glazed ware on studio shelves:

Glaze and bisque ware from October

will be kept until November 30.

If you have items on our shelves from October, please pick up your glazed pieces and take them home to enjoy. Please glaze your bisque ware now or take it home for glazing in the future.

Potters quick tip

Coil rolling video

Q. When I roll coils, they have a tendency to go flat and flip flop or they thin out in the middle. How do I fix these problems?

A. Ceramic artist Karina Smagulova builds shapely sculptures from coils, so she has plenty of coil rolling experience to share with you. In this video, she demonstrates her techniques for rolling coils and dealing with these common problems.

You can see examples of Karina Smagulova's sculptures here.

These videos are part of our continuing series for beginners at all levels.
