* NEW - The Augustana Choir from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, will tour the eastern U.S. in February, and one of the tour concerts will take place in the North Carolina Synod:  Tuesday, February 19th, 7 p.m., in the Duke University Chapel. There is no admission fee, and a freewill offering will be received. You will find posters and photos on our tour website.

* NEW - Bishop's School 2013 - The event is designed for in-depth study and discussion of basic theological tenets of the Christian faith. Participants are in class several hours a day, spend time in daily reflection and study, and participate in small groups for reflection. Service projects in and around the community of Columbia will offer numerous opportunities to assist
youth in their faith journeys. Faith interviews, a variety of worship opportunities, and local service projects will provide a rich experience away from the campus. Free time is scheduled to help balance learning with reflection and relaxation. Bishop Bolick is the bishop in residence this year. Join him!!!

* Agape LYO Assembly - please lift all those attending our annual LYO Assembly in prayer. We have 385 registered this year - 25% more than last year! WOW.

* Dave Scherer, also know as AGAPE will be performing at Holy Trinity, Hickory on March 17th. Time - 7pm. Mark your calendar!

* NEW - Our next Youth & Family Network meeting will be March 7th at the Synod Office from 10-noon. This meeting is open to all. You can even join us via the web if you'd like. Email Tammy for web details. Our topic for March - Practice Discipleship and the Faith Practices.

* NEW - Synod Mission Trip - we are journeying to a new site this year and as part of the "newness" of that trip, we will be limiting the number greatly for this first time. We'll be heading to Pittsburgh this summer and working in that area. This is also the site for our 2013 ELCA Churchwide Assembly so it will be great to have some familiarity with the city prior to that event. Cost is $285 which includes meals, project supplies, t-shirt, activities, water bottle but does NOT include transportation. Dates are July 7-13th.

* On our website we have the opportunity to include pictures (slides really that change) on the homepage. I'd love to have pictures of your trips, events, etc. Email me with a 1-2 paragraph description and see your group on the www.lutheranyouth.org homepage.

A Story to share...
ELCA color logo
"God's work, our hands" How to tell your congregation's story...

People think in stories, talk to their friends in stories, even dream in stories. Jesus taught in stories.
If you want to understand what is going on in an ELCA congregation, you need to listen to the stories. If you want seekers to be attracted to your Lutheran congregation, you need to tell your stories.
