How many ways to Dallas?
If you look at this map of the highways of Texas, you'll see that there are many! While a certain route might be more efficient than others, there are multiple possibilities to get from Austin to Dallas, for example.
How many ways to God? ONE.
Unlike the map above, there aren't multiple ways to get to God. It is only through Jesus that we are saved!

When Jesus was speaking about His resurrection at the Last Supper with the disciples, Jesus said this:

John 14:6-7: "Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you have really known me, you will also know the Father. From now on you know him and have seen him.”

Since Jesus willingly died and was resurrected for the forgiveness of our sins, if we accept Him as our Savior we get to have eternal life with God in Heaven when we die, and we get to have a relationship with God now!

The first Christians were so convinced of Jesus being the only Way to know God and taught this truth everywhere so they were called “Followers of the Way.”

People might believe that if you do enough good deeds you get to go to Heaven, or they confuse that with a real relationship with God. The truth is that while God calls us to follow His commands and show His love to others, the ONLY way we are saved is through accepting Jesus as our Savior.

God made it this way so we could have a close relationship with Him because He loves us! We don't have to worry about doing all the right things or never making mistakes because Jesus is the way to God!

We get to know God by knowing and following Jesus! Not only are we saved from our sins and get to have eternal life, but we get to know God now!

Reflection Questions
  1. What’s the difference between saying, “I am the way…” or “I am a way?”
  2. When difficult things happen, do you remember the hope of eternal life? Or is it easy to fall into despair?
  3. When is it hard to follow Jesus? When is it easy?
  4. How can we show others that Jesus is the Way to God and eternal life?
  5. What are you grateful for this week?
  6. What is something you think God is teaching you lately?
