Registration begins soon for several indoor programs which start in January. Registration continues for some fall/winter programs for youth and adults, with limited openings remaining. Tickets are now on sale for the holiday play "A Christmas Carol". For residents in financial need, scholarships are available for youth programs; read more below. For a listing of upcoming community events in November, click here. The Parks and Recreation Office at Town Hall and the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center will be closed Monday, November 11 for Veterans Day.

Youth Basketball

Registration continues for our fall/winter basketball clinics. We have a Girls Basketball Clinic for Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. Also, we are offering Co-ed Basketball Clinics. Youth in Kindergarten to 4th Grade can register for a clinic held at the BWGCC or youth in Kindergarten to 5th Grade can participate at the International School of Dundee. All programs are held on Saturdays and begin November 23.
Youth Indoor Sports

We have several opportunities for indoor sports for youth, all held at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, and all beginning in January. An Indoor Softball Clinic will be held on Saturdays for girls ages 7-14 years. The clinic will focus on all the fundamentals including throwing, catching, hitting, pitching, stealing, and sliding. An Indoor Baseball Clinic will also be held on Saturdays. Participants will receive training on key fundamentals including hitting, throwing, and pitching. Online registration for softball and baseball begins November 11.

In cooperation with Soccer Extreme , we are also offering soccer clinics on Saturdays or Mondays. Separate time sessions are available for ages 4&5, 6&7, and 8-10. Download the flyer.
FREE Environmental Lecture Series

The solution to climate change is like a puzzle. All of the pieces are required to solve it. Learn about each of them to gather the tools and the knowledge to help your family and the community get prepared. The Town's Conservation Commission, in cooperation with other agencies including Parks and Recreation, is offering a lecture series in November on Wednesday evenings. Fall/ Winter Adult Sports - Basketball, Pickleball, Volleyball & Platform Tennis

Although basketball league play does not begin until January, an informational meeting will be held on November 6 for the 2020 Men's Basketball League.

We have several opportunities for play for our pickleball enthusiasts. Greenwich. Players can drop-in to play at the BWGCC several days per week. Online registration begins November 11 for Winter Indoor Pickleball at the EGCC. Register for one, two, or three days per week. This is for experienced players. For those interested in learning the sport, you may register for an Instructional Clinic. The first session begins in January and the second session in February.

Registration continues for membership to play on our newly refurbished platform tennis courts. The Paddle Tennis season has begun. You can purchase seasonal membership for three or six months.
Holiday Events
Our annual holiday program, Brunch with Santa is SOLD OUT! We wish to thank our sponsors for the event: Pepsi, Meli-Melo, JJ Cassone Bakery, The Greenwich Spanish School, Garden Catering, Valley Pediatrics, Starbucks, Corbo's Southside Deli, and Gyro Uno .

Following Brunch with Santa is our Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 6 at Town Hall. Come meet Santa and his Elves! Enjoy some refreshments and listen to the GHS Chamber Singers.
Then on Monday, December 9, the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center presents the play A Christmas Carol. Come hear the tale of the miser Ebenezer Scrooge and his clerk Bob Cratchit. Tickets go on sale online on Friday, November 1 for residents.
Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink
The Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink located at Sue Merz Way is open for public skating and for private rentals. Download the full public session schedule and the open ice list for November. We are still accepting registrations for hockey instruction at various levels. Registration for Winter Skating School begins early December.

Greenwich Recreation is a member organization of NAYS. We provide free training through the NAYS website to our staff and volunteers and any resident interested in learning how to make sports better for youth. For more information on how to obtain free training, email the Recreation Superintendent.
Scholarships for Youth

The Parks and Recreation Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to income eligible resident families for participation in youth activities. Scholarship applications must be submitted a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the start of the program.
Thunder Ridge Ski and Snowboard Lessons

Once again, Greenwich Recreation is cooperating with Thunder Ridge Ski Area to offer ski and snowboard lessons at a discounted rate when registered through the Greenwich Recreation Office. Download the registration information. Participants provide their own transportation to Thunder Ridge.
Cos Cob Community Preschool

A limited number of spaces are available in the Cos Cob Community Preschool 2019-2020 school year. Classes are held Monday-Friday, and operate from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at 54 Bible Street in Cos Cob. The Preschool is licensed by the State of CT and is reasonably priced. For information, send an email.
Greenwich Skatepark

Beginning Sunday, November 3, the Skatepark is open from 12 - 4 p.m. only on weekends and the weekdays of November 5 and November 29. The Skatepark will close for the winter beginning in December. Eastern Greenwich Civic Center

The EGCC has several on-going programs including Stroller Strides, Greenwich Archery, Wednesday Painters, Pickleball, and more. Call 203-637-4583 for open gym hours.

This coming weekend, Nov. 2 and 3, is the Gem, Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show & Sale! Friday night roller skating is back on November 8 and 15. For more information on these and other programs, download the November Newsletter.

Bendheim Western Civic Center

We will be open on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The BWGCC hosts many programs of The Dance Pointe throughout the year. Registration is open for Youth Basketball Clinics for ages 5-10.

Zumba classes are offered on several weekdays at varying times. Boot Camp sessions are available Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pickleball is offered for adults on a drop-in basis.

Greenwich Farmers' Market

The Greenwich Farmers' Market is open for the season through November at the commuter parking lot on the corner of Arch Street and Horseneck Lane. The market will be held on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Remember to bring your reusable shopping bags. Commuters, do not park in the first several rows adjacent to Arch Street on Saturday mornings!

Senior Center News

The Commission on Aging, manages the Greenwich Senior Center located at 299 Greenwich Avenue, which has many wonderful recreation programs. Download the recent newsletter.
Griffith E. Harris Golf Course

The Griffith E. Harris Golf Course is open and the course is in excellent condition. For information, call 203-531-7200 or email. Visit their website.

Credit & Refund Policy

Credit requests for recreation program registration will be considered if received in writing prior to the start of the program. There is a $15.00 administrative fee for credits. The general policy of the Recreation Division is that we do not process refunds unless a program has been cancelled. Please read all registration information carefully and contact us prior to registering for a program if you have any questions.
Parks and Recreation Foundation
The Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation was set up to receive donations, allowing the community citizens and businesses an avenue to donate to the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation projects and programs. The foundation is a 509 (a)(1).
Through the Parks & Recreation Foundation, one is able to donate to the Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund.

Please make note of the Recreation Division's weather cancellation hotline phone # 203-861-6100. Information regarding cancellations and closures is also posted on our Recreation Sports Website, where you can also sign up to get text alerts and /or emails notifying you of changes. The hotline phone # is updated before the website.

The Parks and Recreation Office at Town Hall is generally open for business hours on weekdays from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m . The office will be closed Monday, November 11 for Veteran's Day.
