Youth Climate Action Summit

FCWC is calling all students, middle school through college! We invite you to attend the Youth Climate Action Summit on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, to be held virtually on Gather Town. This free-of-charge, student-led event provides you with an excellent opportunity to engage with other students while learning about climate change and what you can do to help minimize its effects. Students attending the summit will also have the opportunity to network with established green organizations and learn about internships, volunteer opportunities, and paid work in the environmental field.

Save Pocantico

Lake

In the 1980s, a developer spent several years attempting to build houses on the lake’s east side. Supported by FCWC and other nonprofits, Westchester County stepped up and purchased the lake and its surrounding land. Fast forward to the summer of 2021, and another developer is trying to build a 33-home subdivision on the ridgeline overlooking the lake. FCWC has once again shown its support for the conservation of Pocantico Lake County Park, partnering with the grassroots organization Save Pocantico Lake to prevent developments on the lake property protecting its ecosystems and biodiversity. Learn how you can help.

Celebrating Westchester's Environmental Achievements

It was an informative, entertaining, and profitable occasion for those of you who weren't able to join us on October 28th at FCWC's annual meeting and fundraiser. Ably hosted by Anne Jaffe Holmes, assisted by Robert Carroll, the two-hour-long Zoom event, attended by 50 members, began with videos from three of our member organizations – Riverkeeper, Groundwork Hudson Valley, and Sustainable Westchester. The event also featured music and poetry readings. The success of our event is thanks to you - the members of our community striving to act against climate change.
