Funding applications for a Request for Proposal (RFP) are now available for high-quality after-school programs and summer camps in Miami-Dade County for children and youth from K-12th grade that offer enrichment activities in:

  • STEM
  • Supports for Post-secondary Success


The solicitation was released today, Oct. 26, with a Bidders' Conference & Application Training on Nov. 4. Question submission deadline is Dec. 8. Application deadline is Dec. 14.

Spooky Symphony Returns for Scary 13th Edition 

Be sure to remind your program participants about the 13th annual Trust-sponsored Spooky Symphony concert on Oct. 30. The annual event provides a wholesome and fun chance for kids, parents and caregivers to enjoy the holiday without worrying about its many distractions.


The event is a one-hour free performance of great music for young listeners by Greater Miami Youth Symphony and the Alhambra Orchestra featuring movie themes from "Jurassic Park," "Gladiator" and the Avenger sagas, plus Broadway music from "Wicked," and dramatic showpieces with eerie themes including Danse Macabre.

Team COACH Communities of Practice: Join a community where Parenting Providers support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. We want to hear what you want to see within our CoPs! Feel free to attend any of the meetings below or email us with your comments and suggestions! CoPs are currently being offered virtually. 


Parent Stressors & Barriers: This CoP is held on the first Wednesday of each month. The next CoP will be held on Wednesday, November 2 from 11 a.m.-noon. In this CoP, we will be identifying key stressors and barriers your families may currently be facing, as well as identifying and practicing strategies to solve these barriers. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment: This CoP is held on the first Thursday of each month. The next CoP will be held on Thursday, November 3, from 10-11 a.m. In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Click here to sign up or log in to Trust Academy!


Online Courses: These training courses can be accessed through Trust Academy and completed on your own schedule 


Identifying your Strengths and Boosting your Wellbeing: In this course, we’ll present different tools, strategies and approaches to support your wellbeing. 


Defining Your Problems and Enhancing Your Perspective Taking Skills: We make hundreds of decisions each day, which means we solve hundreds of problems per day. This course will introduce you to effective interpersonal problem solving strategies that are designed to enhance your wellbeing and relationships. We’ll provide you with strategies for identifying and defining problems, getting into a proper headspace for problem solving, and considering others' perspectives. 


Your Guided Path to Generating, Evaluating, Implementing and Troubleshooting Solutions: When we are faced with complex problems that require more in-depth consideration, how we respond with our solutions has a significant impact on our overall socio-emotional wellness as well as our relationships with others. In this course we will learn how to broaden the types of solutions we might consider, evaluate and apply those solutions effectively, and troubleshoot them in case our initial solution did not go as intended. We hope that by providing you with this thoughtful guidance and practical solutions-based process, this course will enhance your level of confidence in your approach to problem-solving.


Coaching and Consultation: UM Team COACH also provides coaching and consultation that is individualized to your needs, and at the pace and day/time that works for you and your team. Through coaching, providers can receive one-on-one support from members of our team across a broad range of topics such as, recruitment, engagement, data, etc. If you are interested in coaching or consultation, please click here to complete our coaching request form.

Volunteer Reviewers Needed for Funding Applications 

The Children's Trust is seeking volunteers to review funding applications. Requirements include: 


  • Active and interested in improving the community
  • Reside in and familiar with Miami-Dade
  • At least 18 years of age
  • English language fluency (written and spoken)
  • Ability to utilize online application system
  • Ability to carefully read applications and write feedback
  • Attend training and debriefing meetings
  • Commit 20-30 hours total time over four week period

Program Management Leadership Academy Application Extended! 

Are you a program manager or supervisor at a Trust-funded program ready to take your leadership skills to the next level? Join Leadership Academy, a 9-month program that includes monthly workshops, peer learning sessions, assignments, and a panel discussion with community leaders.



Criteria to qualify:


  • Position in a program funded by The Children's Trust
  • Have direct impact on or supervise direct service staff members
  • Commit to attend all program sessions

The child/youth and adult participant forms have been updated. Please use the updated forms moving forward. Updates include:  


  • Formatting and logo updates 
  • Ordering of the fields to match Trust Central and facilitate data entry 


Additionally, in the Trust Central Participants Module, you will notice the field previously known as “Case” is relabeled to “Family." There are no changes to data entry expectations. If you have any questions, please reach out to your program manager.

Live Virtual Workshop, Structure for Success, from Advocacy Network on Disabilities *

Live Virtual: Wednesday, November 2, 10-11:30 a.m. Structure for Success

Youth both with and without disabilities can behave in challenging ways. Learn the 7 basic needs youth exhibit, and take away strategies for meeting these needs through positive, preventive approaches. This training is especially relevant to YD K-5 and YD 6-12 Providers. 


These 3 Online Courses are always available through Trust Academy.


Inclusion Reimagined - This updated training reflects new and changing ways of thinking about disabilities, people with disabilities, and inclusion. Many of the ideas that until recently, were considered best practice and acceptable, no longer are. Inclusion Reimagined becomes the new core course in the Advocacy Network’s portfolio and is recommended for all levels of staff in any initiative. You can access it through Trust Central.


Understanding The Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.


Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1

You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment.

This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

The Children's Movement of Florida is hosting its 3rd annual Built to Thrive virtual summit on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. Community Engagement Manager - ($55,968 Annual) *

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for performing a variety of community driven duties with an emphasis on maintaining contact with community groups, parents, and other caregivers, providing support to residents on children’s needs, as well as evaluating and responding to community needs concerning children. The incumbent exercises independence of action and will possess considerable knowledge of community activities and needs for children and families and use considerable professional judgment in the performance of community engagement work. 



Research & Evaluation Analyst - ($55,968 Annual)

The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.


Administrative Services Coordinator- ($48,668 Annual)

The Administrative Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting in a variety of functions related to the administrative services of The Children’s Trust’s operations which include continuous quality improvement, planning, coordination of board resolutions, and management of special projects.


This position includes, but is not limited to, assisting in the development of procedures, project management, board and board committee meetings and Human Resources related matters. This includes consulting with the clerk of the board on deadlines, meeting notices, board and board committees’ planning and policy. Assisting with follow up and coordination of project management tasks and general Human Resource activities.


Solutions Specialist - ($55,968 Annual)

The Solutions Specialist executes on solutions design in response to business priorities and vetted requirements. This position conducts unit testing and validates use cases to ensure solution aligns with requirements. This position maintains and implements routine solutions under the guidance of senior Technology Design and Solutions team members.
