Brief 6-Month Recap

At the beginning of the year, Youth Empowered to Prosper YEP found a new home on the globe at:

1104 N Dixie Hwy, Lake Worth, FL 33460.

So many exciting things have taken place since January 1, 2020. Keep reading to learn more!

YEP's mission is to make a lifelong impact on the lives of youths who need us the most and to develop next generation leaders who are productive and responsible.

2020 National Mentoring Summit in Washington, DC

In January, YEP, UnitedWay of PBC, other mentoring agencies in Florida and agencies all over the country, had an opportunity to meet with elected officials and their staff to advocate for additional funding for mentoring programs. Young Women Who Win (YWWW)

YWWW's Mentoring Program focuses on empowering young women at a Title One school.

Lunch & Learn

Two groups of young women at Santaluces High School in Lake Worth, FL had the opportunity to meet with Dawn Marie Basham, a human trafficking prevention activist. The teens had an opportunity to share, ask questions and become more aware of online predators and identify dangerous signs in their relationships.

College Tour

Lisa Cobb from YEP, Ms. Mawali, the mentoring Champion from Santaluces and Young Women Who Win's mentees had an opportunity to visit the Palm Beach State College campus in Lake Worth.

Mentee-Mentor Social

Mentees and mentors had an opportunity to meet outside of school in YEP's space. Everyone had a great time as food was catered, the space was decorated, and games ensued. It was an evening of fun and bonding! Thank you Mentors for providing a caring and nurturing relationship to our mentees! Click Here

YEP's Food Pantry

The Food Distribution is every Saturday beginning at 9am

Given the onset of COVID-19, YEP was able to ascertain the need for a food pantry in the community. YEP opened its doors on April 11th and we are so grateful to our volunteers, partners and donors for their support. If it wasn't for the collaboration of these stakeholders, we would not be able to serve the people during this difficult time.

We distributed 90,411 pounds of food & household products and served 6,456 people

YEP partnered with

PBC's Youth Services

During the food pantry distribution on Saturdays between 9am-11am, a week's worth of free meals were given to children under the age of 18 on a first come, first served basis. This program came to end on July 18th however the food pantry is still active with an array of food options for the whole family. YEP is an Equal Opportunity Provider
