In 2017 a Satsang held in the divine presence at Singapore, a youth seeks permission to start 'Ceiling on Desires' program, so that all the youth can also contribute towards Swami's mission.
Here is what Swami said:
‘Ceiling on Desires’ is not just about wasting money. Desires are not limited to financial desires, but also related to sensual desires and desires of the mind and body. In public, you practice ceiling on desires but, in private, are you still having a ceiling on your desires? Are you secretly wishing for things that are not appropriate? Financial savings are a by-product of your mental attitude. Do not worry, compare or compete with what the elders are doing. When they were your age, they did not even do what you are currently doing. As you grow up, you will do better than them, because you are getting all this training at a young age. Yes, do not waste time, money, energy, words and, most importantly, do not waste life. Learn the basics and lead your life well.
(Referring to one of the youth) Our boy here, in the army, is going through training. He is not fighting a real war; he is fighting a mock war. When the real war comes, he will be capable of fighting his enemy. Putting a limit on your desires now will help you gain control over yourself as you grow up. Things will get larger in proportion, as you grow up: distractions grow and egos also grow larger in proportion. How will you handle them? Do a little bit of it, as you can. Do not worry too much. Most importantly, have you gained control over your mind? If you have not, then this has become an external thing and you may feel, ‘I am practicing Ceiling on Desires today by simply putting a dollar aside.’ That is not the right direction. Going from outside to inside is very important. Control your thoughts, words and actions. That is ‘Ceiling on Desires’ and it should be implemented.
