Women's Conference 2026

Wow! What an amazing, inspirational, empowering, and refreshing day we had last Friday at our Inaugural Women’s Conference!

The Chamber is incredibly proud of how our very first year turned out and of the safe, supportive, and authentic space that was created for both our speakers and attendees. It was truly a day filled with connection, encouragement, and meaningful conversations.

Throughout the day, we explored powerful topics including leading as you are, leadership through service above self, managing work/life balance in high-stress roles, leadership and personal development, and stepping into strength: the power of women’s leadership.

A huge thank you to our incredible keynote speakers:

  • Dawn Linn – Rotary District Governor
  • Lieutenant Mallorie French – PA Department of Corrections
  • Amanda Jenkins - State Farm Insurance Agent
  • Megan McGeary-Porter – United Datacom Networks, Inc.

We’re also grateful for our wonderful lunchtime panelists who shared their insight and experiences:

Our attendees were absolutely fantastic. Your encouragement, engagement, and support of the Chamber staff throughout the day meant more to us than we can truly express. Thank you for helping make this event so special.

Lastly, we are incredibly thankful for our sponsors, who helped make this event possible:

Did You Know? Many Small Businesses

Are Underinsured

by Mutual Benefit Group

Many small business owners assume they're properly insured - but in reality, coverage gaps are more common than most people realize.

As businesses grow and change, insurance often doesn't keep pace. New equipment is purchased, services expand, employees are added or operations shift, yet policies remain the same. Over time, this can leave businesses exposed in ways they don't expect.

Some of the most common coverage gaps for small businesses include:

General liability limits that have been updated

As revenue increases or contracts change, original coverage limits may not longer be sufficient.

Property coverage that doesn't reflect current values

Buildings, equipment, inventory and improvements may cost far more to replace today than when the policy was written.

Cyber and data exposures

Even small businesses that don't consider themselves "tech-based" often handle sensitive customer or employee information.

Business interruption coverage misunderstandings

Many owners are surprised to learn what is - and isn't - covered if operations are temporarily shut down.

Professional or service-related exposures

Businesses that provide advice, services or specialized work may have exposures not addressed by a basic policy.

Understanding your commercial insurance is a key step to protecting your business and knowing that what you've built is covered if a loss ever occurs.

To help local business owners better understand the basics of commercial insurance and common risks/coverage considerations, Mutual Benefit is presenting a free Small Business Insurance 101 educational session in collaboration with the Huntingdon County Library later this month. The session will provide a general overview of insurance concepts, terminology and common coverage considerations for small businesses. The program is informational only.

Voting Open for 'Coolest Thing Made in PA' Bracket

Joshua Feldstein, Harrisburg FOX 43

March 19, 2026

March Madness has arrived and so has the Pa. Chamber of Business and Industry's bracket to help decide the "Coolest Thing made in Pennsylvania." From Hershey bars to Crayola crayons, people can now vote on their favorite thing made in the Keystone State. The 2026 bracket includes 56 made-in-Pennsylvania products and encourages people to vote on the Pa. Chamber's X, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Voting began 9 a.m. Thursday and will continue each week through early April. "We encourage employers, customers, and brand lovers across Pennsylvania and beyond to turn out the vote throughout this fun-filled contest and showcase their love for their made-in-Pa. favorites," the Pa. Chamber said. Voting will take place on the PA Chamber’s X page for the duration of the round. Additional votes will be able to be cast on their Instagram story, TikTok story, Facebook story and LinkedIn page during the last 24 hours of the round. The votes will be added together, and the winner of the cumulative vote will be declared the winner.

PA House Republicans Hold on to Key Seats in

Special Elections

Charles Thompson, PennLive

March 17, 2026

Pennsylvania Republicans held on to two state House seats, critical to keeping them within striking range of majority control, in special elections Tuesday. Preliminary counts showed Catherine Wallen of York Springs had prevailed over Todd Crawley in the 193rd House District, covering parts of Adams and Cumberland counties. In Blair County, meanwhile, Andrea Verobish defeated Caleb McCoy in the Altoona-based 79th House District. The results were not surprising: Both seats contested Tuesday have a decided Republican edge based on recent voter performance. Even so, the GOP badly needed the wins after the Democrats held serve in two other special elections last month to retain their majority in the 203-member House. Going into Tuesday’s voting, Democrats held a slim, 102-98 majority in the House, a margin that will move to 102-100 after the winners are seated.

Did you know........

Small businesses represent the largest segment by number of most local chamber membership rolls. Results in the research study by The Shapiro Group, Inc. and Market Street indicate the impact of local chamber membership on small businesses is very powerful. If a consumer knows a small business is a member of its local chamber, the business enjoys a 44 percent increase in its consumer favorability rating, a 51 percent increase in consumer awareness, a 57 percent increase in its local reputation and a 63 percent increase in the likelihood that consumers will patronize the business in the future.

Research indicates that chamber membership stimulates business-to-business commerce in the local community. Other businesses in town are more likely to do business with you and your company if you are a member of the local chamber. Because a major part of a small business typically comes from business-to-business services, it is essential to maintain a positive standing within the local business community.
