Between both weeks we had 41 youth and 11 adults who completed 5 porches, 3 ramps, and two sets of stairs. The minimum wage in Virginia is $12.77. If we had paid all of these folks for the 30 hours of work they did, it would have cost $19,538.10. What an incredible gift this group of youth offered by taking time and resources to work alongside community members in our diocese.
I want to take this space to name the adult volunteers from our diocese who made this trip possible. We give thanks to Rev. William Yagel, Maryn Kroeger, Bob Flint, Polly Flint and a special thank you to Jenni Faires, Ben Denton, and Trevor White who helped with both weeks.
