NEWS

FOR MAY 14

SUMMER SEND OFF IS THIS SUNDAY! We will have Small Group Olympics, walking tacos, and Kona Ice. FIFTH GRADERS ARE INVITED! We hope you'll join us in the congregation house from 5:30-7pm four our last Youth Group of the year.

NO YOUTH GROUP OVER THE SUMMER! We'll meet up a couple times with our small groups and as a big group. Be on the lookout for details. There are rumors of a pickleball tournament...

Have a good summer! I miss you already!

Volunteer with the Dinner Crew!

There is always enough food for servers to eat too! Just smile and serve, no cooking!

nugget of nourishment

As we transition out of this school year and into the summer, I am thinking about you all and holding you in prayer during this season of transition. This blessing is one of my favorites for times like these. We will say it over the seniors at youth group on Sunday night. A blessing for beginnings and endings by Kate Bowler:

Blessed are we standing in the hallway

                       Between closed doors

                       And ones still to come,

Between the old and the new,

                       Between the worn-in

                       And the doesn’t-quite-yet-fit,

                       Between who we were

                       And who we might become.

God, make it remotely possible

           To grow and change,

Become open to new adventures, and

           Untethered to the routine

           Or to the same-old.

Because the anxiety rising in our

           Shoulders and filling our throats

Tells us we are unlikely, unwilling,

           to step forward.

Blessed are we who take a minute

           To look over our shoulder

At all we learned from what was,

           The people we became,

The people who loved us into becoming.

The peace that came with familiarity.

Blessed are we who trust this timing,

And who open our hearts anew

To change, to new friends, to hope.

           Nervous, maybe heavy-hearted,

But brimming with gratitude for a life

So beautiful that it hurts to say

           Goodbye.

Blessed are our seniors, turning their eyes ahead

Toward a new path not yet mapped.

God, give them courage to take this

           Next step,

And enough for the one after that, too.

Remind them that you have gone before,

           And behind, and around,

           And are with them now.

In our leaving, in our arriving,

In our changes, expected or shocking,

Surprise us with who we might

           become.

           Amen.

Love y'all. - Phae
