JANUARY 2024

A new year of opportunities!

New Year, New Books, New Programs - new possibilities! I was lucky to visit 22 public libraries in 2023 and hope to visit more in 2024. There was great growth in Summer Reading Programs in 2023 - and much excitement over the 2024 theme of Adventure Begins at Your Library. We're starting our Transforming Teen Services online cohort next month, and working on some other exciting training opportunities as well.

Please reach out with ideas - or if you have an innovative program you would like to share with other youth services staff across the state.

Libraries will receive print materials for all of their branches, as well as have access to the online digital toolkit with printable certificates, posters, games, and social media graphics. You know your library could do more to connect with and respond to the systematically excluded communities you serve. But if you're starting with little or no existing connection, how do you build authentic, trust-based relationships? How do you go beyond transactional interactions and guessing at services to effective engagement and participation? This webinar will help you develop a plan for identifying, reaching, and building relationships with communities experiencing oppression.
