September 2022 Newsletter

The "4 Corners" Librarians at the CSLP Annual Meeting - Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah.

Linda Gonzales, Director of the Tucumcari Public Library shows off her library's sewing center - complete with circulating sewing machines, fabric and notions - that is part of the library's expanded Makerspace. I was able to visit Tucumcari on my ride-along with the Wonders on Wheels program.

Thank you! to everyone for completing your Summer Reading Program Surveys. I will compile the results for statewide data that will be presented during the Fall Workshops. There is still time to provide feedback on this year's CSLP Materials - see below

Are you reading the NMSL Hitchhiker Blog? You can read about youth services and general New Mexico library news AND submit news to be included. You can see Youth Services news here - click subscribe to sign up for the monthly digest of articles.

Summer Reading 2023: I've just returned from the CSLP Annual Meeting, and am very excited about next year's theme, All Together Now, and the programming possibilities exploring friendship, kindness and unity within our New Mexico communities.

And a vote update - At the annual meeting, Color Our World was selected as the slogan for the 2025 Art theme; and Dinosaurs was selected as the overall theme for 2026. These were also the top vote getters in New Mexico.

I am currently planning for the Fall Youth Services Workshops and need your help - see the survey link below to provide feedback on format, content and locations. These workshops will be in-person at locations around the state. Even if you don't think you can attend in person - fill out the survey - there is an opportunity for you to give guidance on the best virtual workshop opportunities. Also share your recommendations for program providers to be distributed at the workshops.

And, lastly, don't forget to look for the Prize Raffle link in the newsletter!
