Dear Youth, Parents, and Friends,
As was suggested in Simon's letter to the parish on Monday, we now expect that All Saints' will continue meeting remotely for some time longer. In fact, on Tuesday, our Bishop, Rob Wright, announced that congregations in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta are required to meet exclusively online until after May 24.
So, as we begin settling into a new normal, I want to echo the words of our Bishop Wright, who has reminded us that "church cannot be cancelled," because
we are the church!

Thanks to everyone who participated on the Zoom call Wednesday night. In case you missed it, here's what you need to know. I've also provided a quick video update on our confirmation
webpage
.
The Ceremony
- The confirmation ceremony, scheduled for May 10 will be postponed to a later date.
Preparation
- Confirmation preparation sessions will continue online, by grade level, every Sunday through May 17, with the exception of Easter Sunday.
- Each Sunday, there will be an at home activity assigned to be completed by the following week. These activities will be posted at www.yallsaints.church/confirmation2020
Mentors
- Mentors and youth are still encouraged to connect electronically in whatever ways you can. You might consider participating together in an at-home service project. Examples can be found in yesterday's midweek update from Simon.
Requirements
- The requirements to be confirmed are changing, since many of our planned activities, such as the field trip to The Temple, Confirmation Retreat, Holy Week Services, and Easter Vigil in Piedmont Park have been cancelled.
- I now simply asks that you do your best to attend as many of our online session as possible and complete the activities for each week. At the end of the year, I will send out a form for each participant to complete, indicating whether you wish to be confirmed and reflecting on what being a part of the church means to you.
End-of-Year Celebration
- I am cautiously hopeful that we will be able to have some kind of party on May 30 to celebrate the end of the year in person. We will have more clarity as we approach that date. In any case we will also plan to have a rehearsal dinner whenever we have a new ceremony date.
Thank you all for your flexibility and willingness to stick with it. We are in this together!

A Word to High School Seniors: Senior Sunday May 5
|
|
Joel and I want to offer a special word of support and encouragement to our seniors who face uncertainty around how graduation and end-of-year festivities will unfold. Please know that we are praying for you and are here for you. We are considering starting a "Senior Circle" for those of you who may want to gather as seniors to check in and offer one another support. Let us know if you would be interested. In addition, we are very much planning to continue with Senior Sunday on May 5, online. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do for you.
