CITY MANAGER BRIEF

Since my first day in late February, my onboarding to the City has been nothing less than fun, exciting, and educational. The warm welcome I have received from everyone on the Team and community further cemented my choice to leave the private sector and join the Yuba City Team.

As of this writing, I have participated in just over 200 meetings in my first 35 days on the job. While the Team is working on several important projects through the organization, the following represent just a tiny sampling of those that are on page one of the priority list:

PARKS & TRAILS DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is working with our cities, counties, and community stakeholders to develop a visionary plan that could link every community and major parks with a network of trails and increase access to job sites, community amenities, and public spaces supporting recreational/social activities.

To develop a plan that reflects residents' needs and values, with special attention to historically underserved communities, we are hosting a survey to receive input.

The information that we gain from this survey will be combined with information we received from our committees and local city and county plans.
This long-term plan needs input from the community to help us find the places people want to access.
We need to start incorporating the voice of as many residents, especially our BIPOC and low-income communities, as possible now so the results of this plan are inclusive and can meet the needs of the community in the future.
This survey is asking people where they want to go and why to help us understand what destinations people value that could be better connected with trails.
Survey respondents will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win one (1) of ten (10) $50 grocery gift cards.

HOMETOWN HERO BANNERS

The City of Yuba City has installed Hometown Hero Banners to honor our local veterans. You will find the banners along the new 5th Street Bridge and Bridge Street between Plumas St. and Cooper Avenue in Yuba City.

Hero banner honorees must have lived in Yuba and Sutter County at some point, served in one of the following branches: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard, Reserves, or Coast Guard. They must also meet one of the following criteria: currently serving, honorably discharged, retired, or died in the line of duty. YCFD ANNUAL REPORT

Fire Chief Jesse Alexander said. "The Yuba City Fire Department is an all-risk, all-hazards fire department. Our fire engines with well-trained firefighters deliver the highest quality emergency response to structure fires, vegetation fires, vehicle accidents, water rescue incidents, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, or any other type of response for which we may be called. Five strategically placed fire stations throughout Yuba City allow us to provide a rapid response to the approximate 73,000 citizens we serve."

APRIL IS VOLUNTEER MONTH

YCPD honoring the fine men and women volunteers that give of their time to help the Yuba City Police Department. The volunteers received their updated hour pins and from left to right in the photo, Katy Goodson, Lieutenant Escheman and Chief Landon presented a display check to represent the total dollars in hours contributed in 2019 and 2020.
