The Town of Yucca Valley will host the Morongo Basin Veterans Tribute on Wednesday, Nov. 11, on the north side of the Yucca Valley Community Center. Held in partnership with the City of Twentynine Palms, the annual event alternates between the two communities each year and honors the men and women who have served our country.
The day's events will begin at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Single Marine Program at the Desert Willow Center for Seniors. Breakfast is free for current and veteran military and public safety personnel. A Veterans Affairs representative will also be available to answer questions and assist with VA benefits appointments.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees can explore an array of military and public safety vehicles and equipment, with Miss Yucca Valley and her Court welcoming participants.
At 11 a.m., Mayor Abel will lead the Veterans' Ceremony, featuring a keynote address by Colonel Consaul, an invocation by Chaplain (Lt.) Penley and musical accompaniment by veteran and soloist Horace Miller. The ceremony will conclude with a flag ceremony conducted by Marines from the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.
Beginning at noon, local band Desert Sol will provide live entertainment during a free community barbecue hosted by Yucca Valley Elks Lodge #2314.
Community members are invited to join the Town in honoring our veterans and active-duty military personnel and celebrating their service and sacrifice.
