Good afternoon, Yucca residents,
I am proud to share that the city of Glendale was named “Best City for Business” by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry. This recognition is awarded annually to a single city that, according to the Chamber, has gone above and beyond to enhance the state’s global competitiveness and advance the priorities of our business community. The honor reflects the efforts of many people working together to support a strong, welcoming business community. We are proud to be seen as a partner in Arizona’s economic growth.
The Chamber’s unanimous vote for Glendale reflects the city’s strong economic development efforts, strategic business partnerships and continued commitment to creating an environment for positive relationships.
The city is focused on creating a robust business sector by establishing the city as a major employment and entertainment hub. In the past six years, nearly 13,000 jobs have come to Glendale across all industries and there is currently more than $1.5 billion in investment projects under development in the Sports and Entertainment District!
As many of you are aware, the City Council reviews and approves the ten-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) each year. The CIP serves as a roadmap for constructing, repairing, maintaining and paying for Glendale’s present and future infrastructure needs. The CIP outlines project costs, funding sources and estimated future operating costs associated with each capital improvement. This plan is designed to ensure the City has available resources to fund the investment in the capital assets and to pay for its ongoing operations and maintenance.
During the budget process, projects are identified which could potentially be funded using General Obligation bonds. On May 27th, City Council approved the call for a special bond election to take place November 4th, 2025. I will provide updates in the newsletter as they become available.
This weekend, take your littles to the Fantastic Fire Truck at Heroes Regional Park Library to kick off the Maricopa County Reads summer program. Keep the fun going for Water Safety Day at Rose Lane Aquatics Center! Enjoy free entry to the pool, free food, a gift giveaway and a CPR demonstration while learning the values of water safety!
If you're interested in learning CPR or need a refresher, register for the FREE non-certifying CPR class offered by the Glendale Fire Department. Check out additional details for Rocket Language, Bingo, results of the propositions, and more in the newsletter!
Finally, RSVP to attend the Summer Yucca District Meeting below! We will be using the System of Care Center once again on Thursday, June 26th, from 6- 8 PM. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about water rates and conservation from Glendale's Water Services Department!
