September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month
Every September, people living with sickle cell disease, their caregivers, advocates, healthcare providers, and others come together to bring awareness to the disease and dispel the myths and stigmas surrounding it. The month also brings attention to the ongoing need for research, better care practices, new treatments, and an eventual cure.
Facts about sickle cell disease:
- Most common inherited blood disorder in U.S.
- Affects approximately 100,000 Americans.
- 1 out of every 365 Black or African American babies are born with sickle cell disease.
- 1 out of every 16,300 Hispanic-American babies are born with sickle cell disease.

About 1 in 13 Black or African American babies are born with sickle cell trait.

Ministry to Women Prayer Walk - September 24
Grab your sneakers and sweats and join the ministry to women on Saturday, September 24 at 10 am for their “wake up and flourish” prayer walk to Marietta square!

Young Adult "Experience"
- October 22
Join us Saturday, October 22nd for our Young Adult "Experience." We will start the evening with food and fellowship, followed by a panel discussion on the state of the church: Young Adult edition. We will end the evening with worship and a message from Grammy-nominated Christian rap artist and bible teacher “Da Truth.” Admission is free but be sure to register by October 19th! See you there! The Table on Delk and Psalm 34:8 Lunch Program

Let’s Give The Table on Delk a September to Remember!
Volunteers attended an Awareness Dinner last month where attendees learned more about The Table on Delk and the many ways that our ministry and you as individuals can and have partnered with them! Monetary donations and food donations are still being accepted for the Psalm 34:8 lunch program!
Cash donations can be sent through the Giving Tab on REALM (dropdown "Women's Ministry" and reference Table on Delk.) Food donations can be dropped off at Zion Tuesday & Thursday from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Contact Deaconess Janice Lovett, Outreach Chair (770) 883-7995 with any questions.

Thursdays: Deacons Missionary Assistance
The Missionary Assistance Ministry assists individuals and families in need. Deacons fill requests for food distribution with Storehouse Ministries food bank and assist with transportation needs (gas cards or bus passes) on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Anniversary Mortage Payoff Campaign
We continue to move forward towards our goal to pay off our church mortgage. We are asking each adult to give $156 and our children to give $15.60. Remember this is a gift to Zion to celebrate our 156th church anniversary year to “Above and Beyond” our tithing. Anniversary donations will be used to pay down the mortgage (90%) and continue Zion's mission engagements (10%). DONATE

Advertising Campaign Requests: Please give at least a one-month (four weeks) notice to the Communications Team for special campaign promotions and creative services requests (fundraisers, donation drives, recruitment, annual events, etc). Visit our website to submit all requests.
