Learn, Engage and B-I-N-G-O With Us

President's Message

Greetings!

In the month of April, we recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month. The first Tuesday of April is “Wear Teal Day” to show support for survivors. Since this is the day before our membership meeting on April 8, let’s wear something “teal” to show solidarity in spreading awareness to end sexual violence.

I look forward to seeing you at the Business Meeting on Wednesday, April 8. The meeting will be held at the Camp Hill Giant Community Center starting with a social time starting at 5:30 pm. It is a closed meeting to members only to discuss future plans for the club. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm with a lite meal. We will hold an installation of new member Ruth Woodlen, vote on the slate of officers for the next biennium, and discuss budgets. We will need a quorum so please plan to attend. Please notify Deb Crum by Monday, April 6 if you do not plan to attend.

Did you see that a picture and story of our celebration for International Women’s Day/Rose Day appears on the ZI Facebook page and in the Share Your Story on the ZI website? Thanks to Alice and the Service Committee for coordinating this project. It was so well received by our like-minded partners and legislative friends.

Remember to attend the BINGO event on Saturday, April 18th (see information later in this issue). It is the last fundraiser of the year. Bring your friends and colleagues for an afternoon of fun! We love to give our service monies to our community partners in May. Your support is key!

The Advocacy Committee will once again participate in the Crime Victims’ Rights Rally to be held on Monday, April 20 and has planned a social media campaign for National Victim’s Rights week from April 19-26. (See information later in this issue).

Lastly, I hope you can attend the Zonta District 3 Spring Area Workshop on Saturday, April 25 from 9:00 am to Noon via Zoom. The topic is Focus on You: Self Care. Cost is $15.00. You can watch these presentations with your cup of coffee in the comfort of your home. See you there!

Kathy Gates, President

April 8, 2026 Meeting

As required by our by-laws, this is our Annual Business Meeting and we look forward to having a full room! It's a wonderful (and important) opportunity to learn more about the operations of our Club and contribute your 'voice'.

Reminder: we're meeting at the Camp Hill Giant Community Center (2nd floor).

From Salla Tuominen, President 2024-2026 Zonta International and Zonta Foundation for Women

"CSW70 comes at a time of great uncertainty in our world. Yet, when I stand with my fellow Zontians, I am confident that the future holds promise, as we keep our heads high, our values close to our hearts and our Zonta Spirit strong. I am inspired by the passion I see in Zontians and the commitment I witnessed throughout CSW70.

At the same time, this year’s session underscored something undeniable: the need for Zonta’s advocacy has never been more urgent. Across discussions, it became clear that progress for women and girls is facing renewed resistance and that the defense of gender equality cannot be left to others. If we want to see a world that respects the dignity, safety and rights of every woman and girl, we must continue to raise our voices—loudly, persistently and together.

CSW70 reaffirmed that Zonta’s role is not symbolic; it is essential. Our credibility, our data-driven approach and our global network make us a meaningful force for change, but only if we use them boldly. I look forward to the actions you will take in our upcoming campaigns and, of course, the momentum we will build together as we move toward convention."

70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70). This annual summit is the largest worldwide gathering on women’s rights and is the principal global intergovernmental body dedicated to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment; and Zonta was there, in the heart of it all.
