2021 Fun Run
(in lieu of our Annual Auction)
This year, we have decided that in lieu of the annual auction, we will instead bring back the Lion’s Roar Kids’ Fun Run as our main fundraiser. The money raised will be used for the priority items annually funded by the school auction - technology and educational supplies to supplement our curriculum, programs, and instruction - so that ZLS can continue its mission toward growing minds, building character, and connecting hearts in Christ.
Some items include:
Music program (music education, choirs, musicals)
Chromebooks and other classroom technology upgrades
Art supplies
Science lab specimens
Library materials
Classroom supplies and subscriptions for teachers
Bus money for field trips
Challenge program expenses
Graduation celebration expenses
School and classroom furnishings

The Fun Run will be held on Monday, April 26th as a kickoff to our rescheduled National Lutheran Schools’ Week celebration, and all students in preschool through 8th grade will have the opportunity to help raise money by getting sponsors and walking or running laps that day during school.
More information about the event, incentives, sponsorship opportunities, and instructions for accepting donations are linked in this email.
We cannot thank you enough for your continued support for improving our great school! We are looking forward to a Fun Run day on Monday, April 26th.

LESA Student Christian Leadership Award
Anna Spelbring, an eighth-grader at Zion Lutheran School in Belleville, has been named Lutheran Student Christian Leader of the Year by the St. Louis-based Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA). The award, which includes a $500 scholarship underwritten by the Lutheran Church Extension Fund, recognizes Lutheran elementary schools students who demonstrate courage, compassion, leadership, academic achievement and a commitment to their community.
Anna, 14, was selected for serving her faith and her community through Anna Bakes for World Vision, the charity baking project she started to sponsor a child in El Salvador through World Vision, a global Christian humanitarian organization that she learned about at a Christian music concert that she attended with her family.
Anna will receive her award online Saturday, April 172021, during LESA’s annual Cooking for Kids Virtual Tribute Dinner-Auction. The event, which includes an online auction, will be live-streamed for free at LESAstl.org this year due to COVID-19 precautions. Proceeds from the event will support scholarships and educational resources for students of all faiths at 35 Lutheran schools in the St. Louis area and southern Illinois. Bidding will open online April 10, 2021 at LESAstl.org for hundreds of items, including jewelry, art, sports memorabilia, special event tickets and other prizes.
