Happy July 4th Weekend Zion families!

This weekend, we celebrate the birth of American independence, and we thank and honor the military men and women in our community who daily contribute to our freedom and continued independence.   

We also praise God for the real and true freedom we receive through the sacrifice of His son and the freedom to worship Him together. 

At Zion this summer, we are enjoying a bit of a slower pace than last year as we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year. There are new staff and many new students, and families to welcome to our great community. We are grateful that God has blessed our school in this way, and we look forward to growing minds, building character, and connecting hearts in Christ this year.  

May God bless and keep you safe as you celebrate this weekend and help us to never forget that real, lasting, eternal freedom is ours through God’s grace and faith in Him.

Science Fair 2021
Congratulations to one of our upcoming 8th graders for winning an EPIC Award at the State Science Fair Competition for his project titled The Effects of Different Disinfectants on the Growth of Bacteria. Way to go, Zion Lion!
Staffing at ZLS for 2021-2022

We are in the process of conducting interviews and collecting names for several open positions for the Best Elementary School in Belleville (see positions below), but we are excited to share with you the following staff additions & changes for the 2021-2022 school year!

  • Mrs. Paige Esser - music education
  • Mrs. Jeannine Young - Part-time preschool 3s teacher
  • Mrs. Allie Davis moving to 6th-8th grade science
  • Mr. JP Schmid joining Mrs. Barradas in teaching 3rd grade

We also are overjoyed to welcome Mrs. Jennifer Dinkelman to the staff as our Early Childhood Director! Mrs. Dinkelman and her family are members of Zion Lutheran Church. She joins us from Zion Lutheran Preschool in Mascoutah.

Current job openings at ZLS include:
  • Preschool teacher (full-time)
  • Preschool teaching assistants (part-time; up to 20 hours per week)
  • Extended Care workers for before school and after school care
  • Substitute teachers

Fun Run Prizes are Here!!
Prizes have arrived in the school office for those students that raised $25 or more in our Fun Run held on April 26th. Students attending Summer Program will receive their prizes on a day they are in attendance. All remaining prizes can be picked up in the school office during our summer office hours(see below). Thank you to all the students that ran and to all of those that donated! We will have our final amount raised out to you soon. Stay tuned!

Summer Program
Dear Zion Families,

Planning for Zion Lutheran School's 2021 Summer Program is underway. We hope you will consider sending your children to join us as we offer a safe, friendly, fun environment where the children learn some new things along the way. Our program runs from Tuesday, June 1 through Friday, August 6 with the exception of Friday, July 2 and Monday, July 5.
