May in Review

 May 2024 in Review

We had a great month of May at ZP, welcoming springtime, the warmer weather and more outdoor activities!

On Monday mornings, we had our wonderful Book club program, with Bobbi Perez and friends. Followed by, art with Finnie at ZP or Clay with Fiona at Artistree. In the afternoon we had play rehearsals but once our spectacular performance took place at the Town hall Theater on May 8th, our rehearsals ended. So, we had a music session with Bob Horan and outdoor games with Doug.

On Tuesdays we visited Billings farm for a farm program, we had “music and improv” with Emerson, yoga classes with Amanda and Annie & cooking classes with our various ZP chefs. (Doug and Sarah) We also had our, ever so popular, pickle ball program with Sarah at the Woodstock Athletic Club.

On Wednesdays, we had fun and games with Kitty, we went to the Hood Museum, in Hanover NH, for a visit and tour. We went to the Norman Williams Public Library for story time, with Kitty, which happens to be a fan favorite! We had our performance of “Peter Pan and the Pirates of Zackland” which, as I mentioned above, was a smashing success and a lot of fun! We started our cycling program with Vermont Adaptive on the Rail Trail in Lebanon NH. And we even managed to squeeze in the “spring fling” dance at the Windsor American Legion! In the afternoon we had music with Kerry.

On Thursdays we went bowling at Maple Lanes in Claremont NH. We had yoga classes with Jamie and yoga dance classes with Liz. We had art classes with Sarah and took walks around town visiting friends and distributing posters. We also had our first visit to the Fore U Golf center, for a round of putt putt golf, followed by a picnic lunch and some delicious ice cream.

On Fridays we went swimming at UVAC, we had fitness games with Bari, we had art with Chris Kennedy and music with Kathleen and Mark. We played BINGO and outdoor games (bocce & croquet) with Doug, we had more music with Bob Horan and we started making great progress in our ZP garden, planting, weeding, digging, building and creating. Our ZP garden is an amazing work in progress we have almost all of the raised beds planted and we keep adding more wonderful accents to it as we go! We have also started a collaboration with the Woodstock Union Highschool, led by Ben Johnson, the NuVuX Design Education Fellow and his wonderful class. They came for a visit to meet all of us and check out the space above the garden. They are going to be working with us, helping us design and build play structures and a handicap path. Eventually, we hope to put in a pavilion, for an outdoor classroom space, above the garden. We are very excited to be working with Ben and his students.

Overall a fantastic month at Zack’s Place!!
