June 2019 Newsletter
May in Review

The weather is getting a little bit better and we ventured outside for some of our programs. To stay fit in May we had yoga with Tita, Jamie, Lalita and Amanda. We swam at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center, bowled at Maple Lanes, had fitness classes with Bari and danced with Liz Barker. We also hit the rail trail on bikes with Vermont Adaptive. We played sport games with Carl Hurd.

On the creative side we had pottery classes with Fiona at ArtisTree, did crafts with Sarah and Kitty, art classes with Lynne VanNatta and with Caitlin. We also had art classes with Bonnie and Lolly. We made props for our Annual May Musical, Jungle Book. We sang with Kerry Rosenthal and Norm Frates Sr. and we had music movement classes with Kathleen Dolan and Mark VanGulden. We had drumming classes with Ted McGruder. We saw the performance of Me Jane at the HOP and also went to the Lebanon Opera House to see Dan Vanes and Claudia Eliaza.
We kept our minds sharp reading with Diane Dugan and Bettyanne McGuire, visiting Billings Farm for farm programs and we went to the Hood Museum to see the renovations and the new exhibits.
We planted some new plants out front and look forward to sprucing up more in June.

Just for fun we went to a dance in Windsor with the Special Needs Advocacy Group and it was super fun!
On May 15, 2019 we performed Jungle Book at Pentangle Town Hall Theater...See below for pictures and more on that.

Zack's Place Musical Jungle Book

On May 15th Zack's Place performed Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, adapted by Zack's Place, at Pentangle Town Hall Theater. The theater was packed including the aisles. Zack's Place performers were flawless and did an amazing job. We will be having a premier showing of the film of the play at Town Hall Theater on June 20th at 1PM if you missed the original performance. Zack's Place is thankful to Pentangle for the Arts for all their generosity in sharing the theater, all of the techinical help, all of our set designers, singing and dance instructors, cameo performers, stage hands, and everyone that was a part of the production. Photographs are by our ZP Photographer Calvin Jones. Please enjoy!
Zack's Place Enchanted Garden Event
On Sunday May 19th, the garden event put on by Zack's Place was indeed enchanted. The evening began with a little time to stroll in the beautiful gardens that are the creation of Master Gardener Ben Pauly.
At 4PM Master Gardener Henry Homeyer gave a very informative seminar on organic vegetable gardens with lots of great tips. This was followed by a wine tasting with wine donated by Farrell distributing, a beautiful cheese display from Thistle Hill Farm and light Jazz sounds from Kathleen Dolan and Mark VanGulden. Chef Rhys Lewis cooked an incredible gourmet spring meal with fresh seasonal fish, lamb and vegetables. The silent auction items were donated by local stores and Norm Frates auctioned off a few live auction items including a paddle raise to fund the new gardens in front of Zack's Place.
