Rick, Maria, Martha and Molly Return to
We had such a wonderful time last year at 1440 (that's how many minutes there are in a day) Multiversity in Scotts Valley, California, that we're returning this year.
The food, the rooms, the friends, the paths through the redwoods (some more than a thousand years old . . . just looking at them and you stand a little taller, a little straighter) . . . and the perfect mix of relax, restore, and reinvigorate . . . well, let's just say that we're looking forward to being there again.
And we trust you'll want to be there, too.
We'll be doing two events, so if you can come for either (or both, as many did last year), here are the specifics:

Zentangle Weekend - Creating Art and Life
September 28 - 30, 2018
Friday - Sunday, 2 nights
Immerse yourself in an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Discover the Zentangle Method-an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life.
At first glance, a Zentangle creation can seem intricate and complicated. But when you learn how it is done, you realize how simple it is-sort of like learning the secret behind a magic trick. Then, when you create a piece of Zentangle art, you realize how fun and engrossing the process is.
We are always making "strokes" (thoughts, words, deeds) in our life. By practicing the Zentangle Method's suggestion to make each stroke deliberate, you understand how those apparently small and insignificant "strokes" of our moment-to-moment lives contribute to an overall life pattern. This is one reason that we say that life is an art form and everyone is an artist.

The Zentangle Method: Beyond the Basics
September 30 - October 2, 2018
Sunday - Tuesday, 2 nights
Life is an intricate fabric of overlapping patterns: beneath the facade of chaos is order; inside the complexity of the mind is a series of simple realizations; and within each of us, no matter who we are, is an artist waiting to take our pen to the page.
Join the Zentangle founding family, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, along with their daughters Molly Hollibaugh and Martha Huggins, and take a closer look at the magic behind the one stroke at a time approach to pattern drawing.
In this 2-day program of artistry and elemental design you will:
- Focus on and explore specific tangle categories
- Hone in on techniques and perspectives to take visual complexity and break it down into basic steps
- Ask "What makes a tangle?" and get back to the root of the practice by untangling your way to the answer.
From the chaos of organic tangles to the order of grid-based tangles, this class will deepen your understanding of the method and sharpen your tangling skills.
