Zentangle Mosaic

December 13, 2016

We are almost finished the tradition of our "12 Days" series of blog posts.

This year is turning out to be an exceptional 12-Days adventure because of your contributions. We have been blown away with the outpouring of AMAZING work of Zentangle artists across this planet. It is such a thrill to have you participate in this project right alongside us.

Thank you so much for sharing your art and continuing to inspire us and everyone else in this Zentangle community.

Today and tomorrow (10th and 11th days) we will be posting two new tangles that we released last month at our CZT reunion.

We are sending the step-outs for both to you today.

The comments to the blog and the images on the app have been so inspiring.

We look forward to seeing what you create with these two new tangles.

Enjoy!

Twelve days of 3Zs Continue

We are having so much fun with this series!

Alfie and Bijou have joined in the fun of these days of creativity.

Each day results in more tiles and more beautiful mosaics:

The images that our Zentangle community is sharing on the Zentangle Mosaic app are stunning and inspire so many ideas.

[Hint: Search for the hashtag "dayof3z" and you will get to see all of them!]

Today we begin day ten (and one of our new tangles).  Here is the song (with links) so far:

On the tenth day of 3Zs,
Bijou sketched for me,
Not so boring drawings,
Tangled auraknot-ings,
Perky pokeleafs peeking,
Dark and naughty knightsbridge,
Swirling molygon-ings,
Gold, glowing tipples,
Some marasu encircling,
Winsome bits of shattuck,
Fetching diva dancing,
And a tile full of tripoli

Both of these new tangles are inspired by patterns seen in nature (wings and leaves). We remind you that our intention is not to draw wings or to draw leaves. Rather our objective is to take the inspiration of these iconic shapes and deconstruct them so that you can tangle them into inspired images that may look like nothing anyone has ever seen!

These are high focus tangles . . . so take your time and enjoy how your approach to drawing them develops as you do it more and more.

See you (and your creations) soon!

New Tangle: drawings

Tangles take flight with this dance of "S" and "Curve" elementals.

This took a long time to deconstruct, but once you get the hang of it, you'll quickly find it just might become one of your favorite tangles.

Enjoy discovering where this tangle takes you. And if you aren't sure of what to do next . . . just "wing it!"

New Tangle: icanthis

The acanthus leaf had inspired so many architectural and pattern motifs throughout history that  Maria just had to take a deconstruction crack at it.

"S" and "Curve" join again in icanthis.

We trust this new tangle will "grow" on you!

We invite you to explore the organic potential that these steps automatically inspire. Once again, we remind you that your tangles are not supposed to look like ours . . . but rather, to look like yours!

Enjoy!

We look forward to seeing you on the blog and app.
