We have a little saying here at Zentangle, Inc.

When in doubt, aura.

In the Zentangle Method, we define aura as a line drawn equidistant to another line or tangle, that follows the shape of the existing line or tangle, like a halo or a ripple in a pond.

When you are feeling stuck or not sure what your next stroke should be, you can always add an aura. An aura is both reflective and inventive. An aura is responsive to your previous stroke, but at the same time allows options to pave new, uncharted territories in your creative adventures. It holds you accountable for your past but supports and assures you that you can go forward in many beautiful directions. Aura is all about connections.

This month, we’ll delve into the significance of aura, both on and off the tile. We have an exciting project pack to reveal during these slow summer days, and we’re thrilled to announce a special guest we can’t wait to introduce at the end of the month!

August promises to be another enjoyable chapter in our year-long 20th anniversary celebration. Thank you for tangling with us!

Bijou's Birthday Box

During last month's celebration of our beloved tradition, teatime, we shared that our favorite tea, was birthday tea.

We would like to invite you all to raise a glass of tea and join us in wishing Bijou a Happy Birthday! This year marks 10 glorious years of Bijou and his wisdom.

International Day of Zentangle

On July 15th, we celebrated the first International Day of Zentangle with a live stream tangling event. If you missed it, you can watch it here.

On July 15, I was running a creative retreat in France. On the last day of the workshop, I introduced the students to Idoz tangle. It's really fun to draw and teach, and I love all the possibilities this tangle offers. It was a perfect conclusion to my workshop, as the students really felt the benefits of the Zentangle method and the difference with other artistic disciplines that don't focus on letting go and simplicity.

Here's the mosaic created during the workshop, I hope you will enjoy it. It's one of my favorite moments: the individual work of art becomes collective, we discover the diversity of creativity based on the same instructions, and we forget that there are beginners and people who have been practicing for several years. The Zentangle method unites!

I'm grateful to be able to bring this joy to France thanks to Zentangle and your teaching. Thank you to Maria and Rick and to the whole team for enchanting us!
