The battle against critical race theory in our schools is raging all over the nation.   More than 7,000 teachers from across the United States have signed the Zinn pledge to teach Critical Race Theory, no matter what state law, parents or schoolboards have to say about it.

It is time for parents to double down and let the education establishment know that they will not be co-parenting with the government.

Below is a small sample of the teachers who have signed the pledge.

Francisco Mercado  Anchorage   AK
I believe in this theory and I am not going to all the racist right to stop our progress.

Melissa Snider      Huntsville    AL
Learning about racism is the only path to healing it and building
a better, stronger nation.

Susannah Livingston       Little Rock  AR
All knowledge is political and true patriots love their country enough that they nature it so it can grow in the right direction for all its citizens.

Deanna Celaya      Chandler     AZ
We need to present the truth.

Dennis Canady      Apple Valley        CA
I refuse to comply to fear, intimidation, and ignorance.

Terri Richmond     Bakersfield  CA    Truth matters. We only go backward with lies.

Jessie Sabree         Long Beach CA
Youth deserve to know real history! Stop underestimating youth's capacity to process information about race & gender. If they're old enough to recognize it, they're old enough to talk about it!

Colleen Campbell  Colorado Springs   CO
as I enter the workforce, I am committed to Critical Race Theory and the work of anti-racism

Christopher Nemec         Usaf Academy      CO
You can’t be neutral on a moving train.

Gloria Custodio     Bradenton    FL
The hard truths of history should be faced, not ignored or whitewashed. Classrooms are places for open and honest discussion, not censorship.

Denise Oglesby     Athens        GA
Learning the truth will help all of us, not the least of which are marginalized people, but White folks too will benefit. Being a member, or aspiring to be a member, of the oppressor class takes a social-emotional, mental health toll.

Patrick Ashwood   Cedar Falls  IA
History is not a patriotic parade. The United States became a powerful and rich country because of its workers, mostly paid low wages, or in servitude, or slavery. History is often not very pleasant, but it isn't some fairytale to make you feel good or a way to justify inequality. The truth needs to be told, not suppressed. The ignorance of the Republican Iowa legislature on black history is remarkable.

Wendi Straub        Idaho Falls  ID
Our systems have racist and classist policies and practices and we all benefit when every student has equitable opportunities to participate in society.

Matt Wiegand       Carson City NV
Not teaching about systemic racism is a great example of systemic racism.

Allison Smithson   Reno  NV
I will always try to be involved in teaching the truth and try to support my colleagues in this endeavor.

Jennifer King        Las Vegas   NV
Students deserve the truth of the building and the sustenance of our nation. They will be the ones to dismantle the horrific systems designed and built by oppressors, enslavers, rapists, murderers, and supremacists, but as long as they are taught the whitewash, they will continue to believe that they are either entitled to be superior (white) or that they don't really exist (all other colors and backgrounds). We cannot keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.

Laura Braytenbah Alrington     TN
History should not be washed away just because it’s uncomfortable.

Lydia Dodd          Chattanooga   TN
It is my responsibility to lead my students in meaningful conversations about the way the world works and how we should interact in it. This law restricts me of that responsibility and even threatens me to shy away from topics related to race, which my students deal with on a daily basis. If I can't teach my students how to think critically and examine their rights as citizens of this country, there is no use for public education.

Gretchen Neisler   Knoxville    TN
We must be better than our history and maintain equality in our lives. Education is a gift of personal growth that will contribute to our role as global citizens. If it becomes narrow minded in its approach we will weaken our national constitutionality.
