Celebration & Conversation
Dear Family of God at Zion and Evergreen Academy,
The busy-ness of Holy Week and Easter is behind us, but the joy of Easter remains! I can't begin to tell you how exciting it was to celebrate my first Easter in this new role you and the synod have entrusted to me.
Together with our leadership, I am still discerning what my responsibilities will be to shepherd this congregation and its ministries. Nothing will happen overnight, but I can tell you that I am committed to:
- Preaching and leading worship weekly
- Pastoral care for our community (church, preschool, and Nina's Place)
- More opportunities to connect with our Evergreen Academy families
- Continuing to lead Nina's Place, especially our implementation of the ELCA Domestic Hunger Grant, and
- Planning with and equipping all of you to do ministry with me.
Our first opportunity to do some of this will be this Sunday, May 4th. During worship, we will take the time to celebrate God's faithfulness to mission and ministry at Zion over the last 67+ years and to give thanks for all those who came before us. Following worship, I want to have a conversation about all of our hopes and dreams for Zion and our ministries together, especially Evergreen Academy and Nina's Place. What are we looking forward to in the weeks, months, and years ahead? God is surely moving us "from strength to strength."
Lots to pray for. Much to do.
Ultimately, grateful that we get to do it together!
Yours in Christ,
Kurt
