Worship and Fellowship Opportunities this Month

Wednesdays in Lent

Community Meal - 5:30-6:15pm

Lenten Midweek Worship - 6:30-7:00pm

Our Wednesday evening worship during Lent this year is a drama based on Luke’s account of the Prodigal Son, Rembrandt’s painting titled The Return of the Prodigal Son, and a devotional type book by Henri Nouwen also titled The Return of the Prodigal Son. Each evening, along with hymns and prayers, we will listen to a monologue delivered by one of the characters in the story: the younger son, the older brother , the dad, the mom, and the servant. Time for reflection and comments will follow each monologue. Individual prints of Rembrandt’s painting will be available, and while you do not need to purchase Nouwen’s book, it does provide helpful insight into this story.  Come join us for this journey back into the arms of our loving God.

17th Annual Prayer Friend Project

It’s time for Zion’s annual Prayer Friend Project! Each year on Ash Wednesday we pair our youth with an adult that will anonymously pray for them throughout Lent and then be revealed in person on Palm Sunday. Our big reveal lunch will be Sunday March 29th after church.

We will once again be writing notes from our youth to our prayer friends. Each youth will be required to write back to their prayer friend with at least 4 notes. These notes can be updates on their life, prayer requests, or just a paragraph or two about what happened in their world that week. I will have notecards, envelopes, stamps, etc. available at Youth Group every Wednesday. This is super easy to accomplish by just being at youth group each week.

Every year we hear how important this project is to our Youth and our adults. I am confident we will see this in real time again this year as we try to make a positive change in our youth and in our congregation. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thank You from the Boy Scouts

Boy Scout Troop 425, at Zion Lutheran Church, wishes to thank Zion and its members for their wonderful support of scouting. In addition to the use of Zion's facilities, members have also made donations to further support the goals and objectives of scouting. We are working with our scouts to provide opportunities to earn merit badges, participate in service activities and have camping experiences. Again, a huge thank you to Zion and its members.
