January 2018

Welcome to the New Year and to new stock.

Maybe you have had some time to travel  around this holiday season? We have.

Here I am with my son, Ethan, as we rested (or should I say I rested) after climbing up the Gros Piton in St. Lucia.

The climb was far easier than trying to visit all forty odd post offices.

I managed to visit four post offices in St. Lucia and had fun with the clerks - these post offices were busy. Clearly subsidized, the local rate is 50c EC (17c US) and the international rate is $1.50 (50c US).

Cancelling devices at these post offices are made of rubber and as a result last about two years before they have to be replaced.

Consequently, there is a lot of postmark change and the modern scene is as dynamic as ever...with the added challenge of finding commercial mail as there is less and less in this email age.

This month I am showing off an unusual Australia war savings booklet with a 5 shilling war savings stamp along with a multitude of 6d war savings stamps. Also, there is a difficult to find PNG 5t make up stamp, a St. Helena Drivers license (complete), postmarks from PNG and St Lucia and some US Pacific Expedition mail.

 PNG Uprated 5t Long Type
Elusive. Elusive. Elusive.
I have managed to acquire some of these 5t make up rate stamps. Mint Unhinged. Price upon request.

These documents really have not
  changed in 30 years.

Recent St. Lucia Postmarks-and this is just Rodney Bay!

Look forward to hearing from you!

Again, please critique and comment- I enjoy it!

Sincerely ,
