The ingredients to the secret recipe
Taranto Family members, operators of the famed Dinner Bell restaurant, have been making a list and checking it twice.
It’s all for “Dinner Bell Pork Chop Wednesday,” a one-day pop-up restaurant that will operate for lunch and dinner on May 3 at the D’Iberville Community Center, on Lamey Bridge Road near Warrior Stadium. It’s a fund-raising event for the Zack Grady campaign and draws from the appeal of culinary favorites from decades ago: the Dinner Bell’s pork chops and open-faced roast beef sandwich.
Here's the list so far from the Taranto kitchen team, so far:
-- 450 lbs of pork
-- 120 lbs of prime rib
-- 25 gallons of gravy (which takes 36 hours of painstaking preparation, we’re told)
-- 70 lbs of our special blend of dry coating/batter containing more than 12 herbs, spices and grains. It’s a unique mixture giving just the right crunch and flavor.
Dine in, take out or free delivery for orders of five or more. The Tarantos say this event will sell out. Who are we to argue?

The first endorsement rolls in
Okay, let’s say it was anticipated but we weren’t sure when. It's the first endorsement for the election of Zachary Grady as State Representative for District 115, representing Biloxi and D’Iberville.
It appears to be an inside job, and it hits close to home.
“The thing that I have always loved about Zack is his passion,” says Alison Lopez Grady, aka Mrs. Zachary Grady. “I think a lot of that goes back to his grandfather and the values he instilled in Zack. I see that passion in every aspect of his life, whether it’s his work, spending time with Charlie and Anna at the ballpark, or helping with a good cause in the community.
“He’ll make a great representative for Biloxi and D’Iberville, passionate and enthusiastic, and yet not afraid to stand up and speak out. That’s my husband!”
John Travolta, District 115 resident
It's true, sorta. The legendary actor is/was in town – spotted at the Scarlet Pearl and on the beach in West Biloxi – shooting scenes for “Cash Out,” a new bank heist thriller. That's all we know.
Travolta, star of such classics as “Saturday Night Fever,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Grease,” was seen up close and personal by Biloxian Becky Carnley Desporte, who captured dramatic footage during filming the other day on the beach south of the Rodenberg comfort station. No word if Vinnie Barbarino got to meet Artie Desporte.
