How did you get started in music? What inspires you?
I was inspired by HipHop at an early age. I used to listen to all the early 90s artist like Tupac.
Tell us a bit about your new track, "Wenbersh."
Wenbersh is a song about the city I was born in, a city close to my heart. I wanted to raise the social issue currently causing so much trouble to the people of my city. I know this song will be politicized but it only preaches unity and fairness.
Can you describe your musical style and how it is unique?
As a pioneer in the HipHop genre in Ethiopia I started out with my own twist of Hip Hop and Guragegna Music. I started doing Afro Beat recently but I’m back to doing the music I love and that’s Hip Hop.
What can we expect in the future from Teddy Yo and Mela Muziqa?
I’m am currently finishing up my Album with Mela Muziqa. It’ll be a hiphop album produced by some of the biggest names in Ethiopia. I’m very excited about what the future holds.
Is there anything else you would like to tell the people?
I would like to say music is an instrument to share what’s important to me as an artist and be the voice to the people. I as an artist will always strive to raise any issue no matter what the consequences will be.
