Mother’s Legacy Workshop:
Exploring the first relationship that we had is a means of discovery.
These stories will have the power to move people and change awareness.
Writing our personal stories is an avenue to healing wounds, soul-searching, and connecting to something larger than one's self.
The following excerpts come from The Red Tent:
"If you want to understand any woman you must first ask about her mother and then listen carefully. The more a daughter knows the details of her mother's life - without flinching or whining -the stronger the daughter."
Have you ever stopped to wonder who she really is? I can guarantee you will discover that you actually know more about her than you think you do, and what is more, further information will be revealed about her once you take yourself back in time and look ever so closely while asking yourself, "Who is Mom at her core, as an individual?
Trying to capture your mother with words is an opening to truth and understanding.
Join me as we spend this workshop reflecting on the unique relationship of the mother-daughter role and how it will continue to impact your life, even if she has passed on.
The result will be a deeper understanding of yourself after exploring that relationship.
There is much to discover by paying attention to what you find deep inside.
The author, Cesare Pavese, said, "We do not remember days; we remember moments." I will help you discover how to help you tap into moments in time and to seize upon a compelling incident or event that you'll use as the core or theme of your short story. By doing this, you'll realize that you can, indeed, write this important story, and you'll have set your story in motion with the parts at hand to mold at your will.
This workshop will use prompts to look at the bond we formed or were broken in the relationship between mother and daughter.
This workshop will be approximately 3+ hours on zoom with several times to stop to write with prompts during this class. Sharing is always encouraged but always optional!
