Zoom Training for OLLI Students
A Zoom member instructional training will be available to all OLLI members on Tuesday, September 8, from 10:00–11:30 am. This is a basic instructional to help members be able to sign on to Zoom and participate in OLLI classes. No need to register in advance or to download Zoom prior to the training. On Tuesday morning, September 8, at a few minutes before 10:00 am, just click this link to join the training session: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84777720168?pwd=ZGVrcnJhRFpuOEI5WWZiRVVXT1Nzdz09

If you would like to sign in 15 minutes early, it will give you the opportunity to meet and greet other OLLI members. Otherwise, if there are any questions, please contact Member Services Committee Chair Andrea Gay at [email protected].
Winter Course Proposal Period Extended
The due date for winter term course proposals has been extended to September 27. This one-time extension was implemented to give Fall instructors the chance to teach at least one class online before submitting a Winter proposal. And for members who are on the fence about whether to teach this winter, it may give you the chance to participate in distance learning as a student before you make the decision to teach.

Online teaching is not a leap without a parachute: there’s plenty of assistance available to help instructors adapt to new methods. If you have questions, please contact Curriculum Committee Co-Chair Ginny Blankinship ([email protected]). Weather won't be the usual concern this winter, and we know that opportunities to learn are even more appreciated when we're spending more time inside. Click here to submit a winter course proposal by September 27.

The only thing better than taking classes at OLLI is teaching classes at OLLI!
Zoom Practice Partners Needed

Instructors are preparing to teach via Zoom this year, and would like to hone their skills with live participants, AKA Zoom Practice Partners or ZPPs. ZPPs will have the double benefit of improving your own comfort with taking classes on Zoom, while helping OLLI instructors practice. Do you have 30 to 45 minutes you can spare to help out?

Here are this week's opportunities to be a ZPP:
Tuesday, September 1, at 10:00 AM (Contact Dick Ashford at [email protected])
Wednesday, September 2, at 1:00 PM (Contact Dori Appel at [email protected])
Wednesday, September 2, at 3:00 PM (Contact Geri Esposito at [email protected])

If you are interested and available to be a Zoom Practice Partner, click on the instructor’s email and let the instructor know you’d like to be a ZPP. The Zoom invitation link for that session will be emailed to you directly by the OLLI instructor.

Questions? Email Nancy Rhodes at [email protected].
Open Enrollment: Many Courses Still Open
If you still have room in your schedule for another course or two, with Open Enrollment underway you can sign up for as many classes as you like, and there are plenty of great options to choose. Click here to take another look at the fall catalog and see what else you'd like to learn about.

If you signed up for a class that doesn't fit your schedule, please take a moment to drop it to make room for someone else. Just email [email protected] and put "DROP" and the course name in the subject line. Or call the OLLI office at 541-552-6048 with the information.

Member-to-Member Remote Tech Support
Member-to-member tech support is again available thanks to OLLI volunteers. We know many members are learning to connect remotely to take OLLI courses or to meet up with friends and family online while we stay safe and save lives at home. Some of OLLI’s tech savvy members have volunteered to provide some tech support to help members get connected. If you would like help with getting up to speed online, click here to submit a request for tech support. and we will connect you with a Tech Support volunteer.

Please note: While volunteers will offer support to the best of their ability remotely, we cannot guarantee that every issue will be solved successfully. Please keep in mind that this process can require time and patience, too.
Other Options: Learning Without Zoom
If you are not interested in taking classes that rely on Zoom, or just want to mix it up a little bit, here are four fall term courses you might want to consider. For these classes, participating via Zoom is either optional, or not used at all.
