Nicotine & its Relationship to Covid-19

Last weekend I received an online inquiry regarding stubborn loss of taste and smell sensations 15 months after having contracted Covid-19.

I have, based on the recommenation of Dr. Brian Ardis, in the past, recommended what he reported his wife did to resolve her same problem, and that was to chew a stick of nicotine gum for 10 minutes every 4 hours for one day.

However, this inquiry sent me digging a little deeper into the problem of long-haul Covid and a quest for what can really be done to make a difference.

What I found out was beyond encouraging!

Not a convenient time? Want to be able to start 'n stop? Or want to watch again or share? Catch previous episodes on:

"Is the post-COVID-19 syndrome a severe impairment of acetylcholine-orchestrated neuromodulation that responds to nicotine administration?"

And that's not all when it comes to the groundbreaking health benefits of nicotine!

Rehabilitation of hemispatial neglect in stroke

Hemi-spatial neglect (HSN) is a debilitating post stroke cognitive deficit resulting in reduced attention to stimuli presented in the contra-lateral hemi-visual field. It adversely impacts patient's medical recovery, activities of daily living and quality of life. Early referral to Rehabilitation Medicine specialist for thorough evaluation, prompt recognition of functional impairments and formulation of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan unique to patient is important. It is part of the comprehensive and holistic management of stroke patients with HSN. We summarize the current management strategies used for post-stroke HSN rehabilitation with the options including non-invasive brain stimulation, visuomotor feedback training, robotic rehabilitation and trans-dermal nicotine patch.

Nicotine itself is not addictive... it is only addictive when delivered in a tobacco product

"It [nicotine] seems very safe even in non-smokers... in our studies we find it actually reduces blood pressure chronically. And there were no addiction or withdrawal problems, and nobody started smoking cigarettes. The risk of addiction to nicotine alone is virtually nil."*

Scientists are also starting to investigate nicotine addiction,

with one researcher arguing:

"There is very little to no evidence for the abuse of nicotine when not delivered in a tobacco vehicle."

Suggestions for Use

I am going to start using a 7 mg patch daily myself as part of my health routine.

I am purchasing the product at the left. I will keep some in stock beginning Tuesday for the convenience, especially, of my walk-in customers and clients. However, I will also make them available online, though purchasing them through Amazon is a snap!

You have much more power than you know!
