A final message from Jim Klarich...

"From my first day on the job through my last, the past eight years have been truly amazing and your support has been nothing short of overwhelming. Thank you for making my time here so enjoyable and fulfilling.

As I look back, I don’t think anyone could have predicted the roads we’d be led down, the opportunities that we’d see, how far we’d go, and everything we’d accomplish together. We implemented well thought out plans but were opportunists as well. Through both, we captured a lot of imaginations and we moved Alpena and our region forward on many levels. We’re not the same place as we were in 2011. Yes, we have a history, but we’re not using it as a hitching post as to what our expectations should be anymore. We’ve grown up.

There’s a list of things that I was sorry that we couldn’t get done while I was here but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the things we did get done were just the right amount for the time period.

Alpena has a very bright future in store and will surely continue to grow but it will forever remain a place where family, friendships, and kindness, are its calling card. A place where dreams are encouraged and opportunities are embraced and all the while remaining true to itself, a charming city, surrounded by forests and water possessing the ability to inspire us and untie us from the realities of the larger world in which we live.

Thank you for the past eight years, I’ll treasure all of the memories, and I want each of you to know how thankful I am for you." - Jim Klarich
