Dear Camp Families,

I hope that you are staying well, keeping one another healthy, and finding moments of joy in these long days of quarantine. The quietness of this spring at Camp Wright is being enjoyed by all kinds of animals; the osprey have returned, we're finding all kinds of turtles around the property; and the deer enjoy their still time in the Day Camp field each evening. My family takes daily walks, specifically to visit with the ducks and to look for the great horned owl who lives in the woods. The sun shines, and work continues in preparing for camp. We've turned the water back on, the pool will begin the opening process this week and someone's got to sweep the pollen out of all these cabins!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as you wait for more news about the status of Camp Wright's summer programs. We are staying well informed with any updates as they apply to Camp Wright. We are closely following recommendations from the federal government, the CDC, Maryland State and local authorities, and the American Camp Association. We all have the same question, "will there be camp this summer? " The short answer is "we just don't know yet."

Today, all we have are options:

1. A full summer camp season with all programs and sessions running normally.
2. A delayed start to summer camp to allow for social distancing guidelines to be relaxed and for our staff to prepare.
3. Cancellation of some programs including the possibility of only having Day Camp offerings this summer.
4. A full cancellation of our programs for the 2020 summer season.

We will make any decision about summer camp working closely with the Queen Anne's County Health Department, the Camp Wright Committee, and the Episcopal Diocese of Easton. Though we are not certain of when, Camp Wright will open again to campers and to rental programs, and I want to assure you that we are and will continue to take every precaution to keep all of our participants safe and healthy. In addition to our usual health & safety procedures, we will be increasing our staff training on communicable disease transmission reduction and sanitary practices to be implemented in the camp kitchen, maintenance department, and all of our summer camp programs.

This uncertain time is incredibly difficult for everyone, and I know my camper, like yours, is very anxious to learn we will have camp again. I assure you we will laugh, dance, learn, explore and sing together again on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. As we face uncertainty in our programs and our financial outlook, we are working hard to ensure that Camp Wright will persevere through this hardship and be here when it is, once again, safe for all.

Know that you and your campers are being prayed for. Thank you all for your continued support, trust and prayers. I will be in touch soon. In the meantime, if there is any way Camp Wright can support you and your families during this time, please let me know.

Peace,

Julia Connelly
