From Brave to Business: Coming Home to Inspire What's Next

There is something incredibly special about seeing our Braves come back home to invest in the students who are following in their footsteps! This past Monday, Class of 2019 alum, Connor Morris returned to Indian Hill to spend time with students in our Strategic Entrepreneurship and Marketing classes, sharing his journey from his own experiences with DECA and business development at IHHS, through his time at TCU, to his professional career today with L'Oréal in NYC. Even more powerful than hearing about where his journey has taken him were the leadership lessons Connor shared along the way: bet on yourself, fail forward, and be willing to say "yes" to opportunities; even when you aren't completely sure they are for you.

Connor also challenged students to intentionally develop the skills that will serve them regardless of the career path they ultimately pursue; particularly their communication and presentation skills. Through an informal Q&A, students had the opportunity to ask questions, share their own entrepreneurial projects and ideas (they are creating for DECA), and learn from someone who once sat exactly where they are sitting today. This is what paying it forward looks like. When our alumni return to share not only what they have accomplished, but also what they have learned along the way, they help our current students see what is possible for themselves.

We are incredibly grateful to Connor for coming back home, modeling service and leadership, and inspiring the next generation of Braves to amplify their level of 'school readiness' and 'life readiness' so they do not simply survive in the future, but thrive!

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

"Big Swings, Bigger Lessons"

What an incredible opportunity for our 8th-grade Braves! Earlier this week, IH parent and Flowspace Co-Founder & CTO Jason Harbert joined Kimberly Gordon's 8th-Grade LAUNCH class to share an entrepreneurship journey defined not simply by success, but by the big swings, setbacks, failures, and lessons that ultimately shaped his path. Jason challenged students to think differently about failure, not as something to fear, but as something to learn from and shared what can happen when we give up too easily instead of staying curious, adjusting, and trying again.

His message encouraged students to get comfortable being uncomfortable, build and value your own network (even at this early age), say 'yes' to new opportunities and bring a positive attitude to everything you pursue!

Perhaps most impactful was Jason’s reminder that students don’t have to wait until high school, college, or their first job to begin developing the skills that will shape their future. Communication, believing in yourself, self-leadership, learning to contribute to an effective team, building relationships and simply showing up are skills our students can intentionally practice right now. The visit was concluded with an open Q&A which gave students the opportunity to ask some outstanding questions and learn directly from someone who has experienced both the highs and lows of building businesses.

Experiences like this bring entrepreneurship, leadership, and career exploration to life, connecting what our students are learning today with the people, possibilities, and opportunities that await them tomorrow.

IHExp "Future in Focus" Summer Impact Series

Summer break is more than just a time to recharge, it is a launchpad for the future. Over the past few months, our Indian Hill Experienceships students have stepped outside their comfort zones to take on high-impact internships, drive community research, launch personal projects, and gain real-world career experience.

To honor their dedication, our Summer 2026 Impact Series will spend the coming weeks spotlighting these incredible student journeys, showcasing the practical skills they developed, the insights they gained, and how these experiences are shaping their future ambitions.

Through immersive opportunities students developed crucial success skills, including professional collaboration, business analysis, active problem-solving, and adaptability across diverse fields, that equip them to navigate future careers and ensure they are truly "life ready."
