Greetings!,

How is your health?

It seems like a pretty basic question, right? Yet, if you were a casual observer, or new to the US, your impression would be that all Americans have poor health just by the number of drug commercials we see everyday.

Most of us seem to understand that we can greatly maintain, or improve, our health with simple choices; eating healthy, getting enough sleep and exercising regularly are some ways how. For much of this, gyms, dieticians, and medication are not needed.

I have discovered after my fall last year the benefits of walking. Most weeks I will walk long distances 4 or 5 times. I have also added a weighted vest to get a little bit more from the walks I take. What surprised me was reading an article by a physical therapist discussing how walking can be hurting you and not helping you.

The 5 most common errors she listed are these:

1) Walking while scrolling

2) Wearing the wrong shoes

3) Not balancing your routine

4) Not considering walking speed

5) Not staying consistent

I will post the article and video on this topic below. If you re looking to change your routine, looking for something new, or even want to check your progress, I feel it will be worth your time to take a look at.

5 common walking mistakes that could hurt your progress

As always, thanks for reading.

MEDIAN NOT AVERAGE - The Federal Reserve's latest Survey of Consumer Finances shows the average American household net worth has crossed $1 million, technically making the "average" American a millionaire. The catch? The median tells a very different story… in fact, half of all Americans in their 50s have less than $180,000 in net worth. So, what’s happening here? Well, a handful of ultra-wealthy households at the top pull the average into the stratosphere and make the rest of us look a lot richer on paper than we are. - Empower, January 2026

OH BABY - Baby Boomers hold $83.3 trillion in household wealth, representing 51.4% of all American household wealth while making up just 20% of the population. Over the next two decades, an estimated $124 trillion is set to change hands in what experts are calling the largest generational wealth transfer in history. - Cerulli Associates via Glenmede, December 30, 2025
