Cynthia Brittain with Karlin & Peebles, LLP works closely with multinational clients to design cross-border tax-efficient strategies, maximizing the benefits to their families’ global companies while meeting the clients’ personal succession needs.

Cindy’s extensive experience includes advising families on the complex issues relevant to pre-immigration planning, international corporate tax, and both international and domestic wealth and asset transfer strategies. Cindy also has extensive experience with cross-border regulatory laws that affect U.S. domestic planning as well as with U.S. tax compliance under the several voluntary disclosure regimes.

Cindy served as Nothern Trust’s Director of Inbound Wealth Advisory, as a national resource advising clients and Northern Trust internally on international regulatory compliance. She was instrumental in integrating the trust company’s affirmative defenses globally to the U.K. Criminal Finances Act of 2017.

Cindy previously worked at a major accounting firm within its international mergers and acquisitions group, and has continued to advise clients on the effective integration of their global business operations into the U.S. tax regime. Over the course of her career, she has worked with clients in Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, London, Hong Kong, Mainland China, India, and the United States to develop overall income and estate planning strategies on behalf of large global families.
Thomas Giordano-Lascari is a partner with Karlin & Peebles, LLP. Thomas’s practice focuses primarily on advising high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses in connection with international income tax and estate planning issues. A significant portion of Thomas’s practice involves advising global families with respect to structuring and reorganizing multinational businesses to minimize worldwide taxes. Thomas also regularly advises clients regarding pre-immigration planning, foreign investment in the United States, U.S. residency planning and management, and expatriation planning.

Thomas regularly advises foreign fiduciaries regarding foreign trusts with U.S. beneficiaries and grantors, including advice regarding compliance obligations and tax consequences. Thomas also advises U.S. beneficiaries and grantors of foreign trusts of their compliance obligations and the tax consequences of their relationship with the trust.
