Wharton Center’s Institute for Arts & Creativity announces its inaugural Teaching Artist Institute from Sept. 15-17, 2022. This workshop is for emerging fine artists—performing and visual arts—who would like a thorough look at the profession of teaching artistry. This three-day session will be presented by Wharton guest facilitator Eric Booth. Participants will receive three days of workshops, lunch each day and a copy of Eric’s book "The Everyday Work of Art." The cost of the event is $40 and financial assistance is available. Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center seeks artists for the Michigan Made Holiday Art Exhibition, which will feature artworks that range from fine art to small gifts, including jewelry, paintings, pottery, metal work, leather goods, paper products, glass works, woodworking and more. They seek contemporary fine art, inspired modern craft and items designed by Michigan makers. Deadline: Sept. 7, 2022.
The Allen Neighborhood Center and Prospect P.L.A.C.E. Neighborhood are currently accepting proposals from artists interested in creating two commissioned public art pieces to be located near the pavilion in Hunter Park in front of Allen Place. The pieces are to be creatively themed, functional bike racks. The proposed bike racks will be highly visible to pedestrian and automobile traffic and serve as landmarks representing the vibrancy of the Eastside and Hunter Park. Deadline: Aug. 19, 2022.

The East Lansing Art Festival (ELAF) announces a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for graphic designers, artists and/or firms interested in designing the poster and other deliverables for next year’s festival. The new festival poster design will be used to develop corresponding printable pieces, such as festival t-shirts and advertising. The design should encapsulate the ELAF and showcase its fine art mission, while also getting the community excited for the next event and being easily transferrable to different mediums. Michigan-based artists/designers/firms are preferred, with local artists/designers/firms (those in the tri-county area) given priority consideration. Deadline: Sept. 8, 2022.

Northern Illinois University Art Museum in DeKalb, Illinois, announces a call to artists for its exhibition, "Stories from My Childhood." They are seeking artists to encapsulate and share a story of a transformative or impactful event from their childhood via an original work of art and accompanying text. Deadline: Aug. 19, 2022.
Deines Cultural Center in Russell, Kansas, seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, "Mystery, Magic & the Macabre." This exhibition celebrates thoughtful and unique portrayals of the dark, the mystifying and the hair-raising. All works must be for sale. Deadline: Aug. 28, 2022.
Canvas Pontiac in Pontiac, Michigan, announces a call to artists for a juried art contest & outdoor exhibit. Cash awards of $1000 to $3000 will be presented in each category. They are accepting paintings, drawings, photographs, digital art, NFTs and mixed media. Deadline: Aug. 31, 2022.
The Gallery at Cherry Hill in Canton, Michigan, is now accepting entries for the 28th annual "Canton Fine Arts Exhibition," which will be on display Oct. 4 - 30, 2022. Entries for this distinguished exhibition are currently being accepted. All media is accepted for this outstanding exhibition. Michigan artists are encouraged to enter online. The competition will award $1,950 in cash prizes. Deadline: Aug. 31, 2022.
McCord Gallery & Cultural Center in Palos Park, Illinois, is seeking entries for its exhibition “Unmasked." After so much time being hidden behind masks, this exhibition seeks to capture artists' interpretations of “unmasking:” to reveal the true character of something. This is a juried exhibition. Acceptable mediums include acrylic, charcoal, collage, color pencil, drawings, mixed media, oil, pastel, pen & ink and watercolor. Deadline: Sept. 2, 2022.

That's right, it's almost ArtFeast time! Old Town Lansing's ArtFeast is happening on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, and the Old Town Commercial Association (OTCA) needs your help!
Grab a shift
This art-full day brings artists, activities, food trucks and so much fun to Old Town! Who wouldn't want to be a part of that? Luckily the OTCA has several volunteer opportunities available throughout the day, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. Help with setting up, assisting vendors, tearing down and a light cleaning at the end of the day. Salus Center is seeking board members. Salus Center is Lansing's LGBTQIA+ Community and Resource Center providing resources, connection and community for Lansing, Michigan.
