tax filing deadline: may 17, 2021

CHFA does not always require tax returns; read important reminders below for details. However, when tax returns are required, CHFA will require a 2020 tax return for loans locked on or after May 17, 2021. A full transcript or the complete tax return is acceptable.

Submission of an older tax return or a filing extension, as well as submitting a W-2 and a wage income transcript, in lieu of a 2019 or 2020 return is not permitted.

*Reminder:

Prior year tax returns are required for all borrowers utilizing the CHFA FirstStep^sm Programs.
Tax returns are not required for the CHFA SmartStep^sm and CHFA Preferred^sm Programs unless required by the applicable Automated Underwriting System (AUS) findings or underwriting guidelines.
