Happy 4th of July!
Seneca County Republican Party
As you probably already know, county commissioner Holly Stacy will be resigning effective July 19 to start a new job. We wish her all the best and thank her for her service.

According to section 305.02 of the Ohio Revised Code and section F of the committee bylaws, we have between five and 45 days to fill the vacancy. So the Seneca County Republican Central Committee will fill the county commissioner vacancy on Mon. July 29 at 7:00 pm. The meeting is open to the public, and will be held at North Central Ohio Educational Service Center, 928 W. Market St., Tiffin. If there are more than ten candidates for the vacancy, five finalists will be selected on July 29, and the final selection will be made on Mon. August 5 at the same time and location.

Applicants must be registered voters in Seneca County and members of the Republican Party. Resumes and cover letters must be received at P. O. Box 223, Tiffin, Ohio 44883-0223 by July 15. They may also be emailed. A list of committee members is available from the same address or the Board of Elections. The committee has 47 members.

The appointment is for the unexpired term. There will be no special election. The election for the full term will be in November, 2020, with a filing deadline in December, 2019 .

There are five declared candidates so far. Alphabetically, they are Jim Cline, Bill Frankart, Charlie Palmer, Tony Paradiso, and Bill Schultz. They and any other applicants will have the opportunity to meet committee members and the public at the Republican tent at the Seneca County Fair, July 22-28. They will also be invited to speak briefly at the monthly Republican luncheon on July 10 (details below).
local candidates needed
There's still a month until the filing deadline for numerous local government offices. School boards, township trustees, village council seats, and Tiffin's Charter Review Commission are all on the November ballot. In recent years, many of these seats have had no candidate, or only a single candidate for multiple seats. You could be elected merely by filing petitions to run. Check your registration, then click on Elected Officials to see which seats will be available in your precinct. The filing deadline is August 7 at 4:00 pm.
save the new date
The Hog Roast has been changed to Thursday, September 12 due to a scheduling conflict (not Mon. September 16). Thanks to Denny Wilkinson for taking charge of this annual event.
fair tent volunteers needed
We need lots of volunteers for the county fair tent. If you can help in any way, please respond to this email, or phone 419-447-7205. Please.

monthly luncheon July 10
Please join us for all you can eat pizza, pasta, and salad bar on Wed. July 10. It's in the back room at Fort Ball Pizza, 91 North Washington Street, Tiffin. You can come and go as your schedule permits between 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. Our local elected officials and candidates will have the opportunity to speak briefly. It's very informal, and everyone is welcome. It's the second Wednesday of every month, so the next dates are August 14, September 11, and October 9.
