Covid Update – January 24, 2022
We are currently sending an email update every Monday with Covid-related information about our plans and programs. We’ll announce firm plans for the following two weeks, along with as much of the longer-range outlook as possible.
Today through Sunday, February 6:

In-person, public worship services continue as planned, including Sunday services (at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 7:30 p.m.), Compline on Mondays at 8 p.m., and noonday Eucharist on Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m.

Smaller worship services:
  • Our smaller services (Sunday at 8 a.m., Sunday at 7:30 p.m., Monday Compline, and Tuesday Eucharist) continue essentially unchanged. Masks are required, and there is plenty of room for distancing.

Each Sunday at 10 a.m.:
  • Fewer clergy and staff will participate in each Sunday service to help avoid a scenario where multiple staff members need to isolate simultaneously. Clergy and staff working on any given Sunday will take an at-home Covid test ahead of time.
  • Instead of a full choir, small ensembles of choir members will sing each Sunday. In order to participate, choir members are required to be fully vaccinated (and boosted if eligible).
  • There will be no clergy or choir procession at the beginning or end of the service.
  • Seating is available only in alternating pews to facilitate social distancing.
  • The windows in the nave will be open if the outside temperature is 50 degrees or warmer.
  • The Nursery remains open for 0-3-year-olds. Staff are masked and vaccinated.

Sunday 10 a.m. worship on January 30 & February 6:
  • The 10 a.m. service will be a modified version of Morning Prayer, with no communion.
  • No Children’s Chapel.
  • No coffee hour.
  • No Common Hour activity.

Wednesday, February 2:
  • The Parish Choir, the Junior Choir, and the Primary Choir will all resume rehearsals with masks and distancing.
  • The 5:30 p.m. Evening Prayer service will be held indoors. Masks are required, and there is plenty of room for distancing.
  • No dinner.

Program and administration:
  • All St. Paul’s employees are fully vaccinated and boosted.
  • The building is closed to meetings and gatherings other than public worship services, choir rehearsals, and meetings of twelve-step groups.
  • In keeping with the Bishop’s directive, no food or drink will be served indoors until further notice.
  • Staff are working primarily from home, where they have access to email and their office phone extensions. You can still reach all St. Paul’s staff at 434-295-2156.

Beyond February 6:

  • Wednesday evening dinner plans are still to be determined.
  • Common Hour programming will resume with the Annual Meeting, tentatively rescheduled for February 20.
  • The date for the return of coffee and refreshments after the 10 a.m. service is yet to be determined.
