from the ptsa president

October has been a very busy month for the PTSA! The PTSA Executive Committee met on Wed, Oct 4 to consider Appropriation and Professional Development requests from the faculty. We approved requests from the Performing Arts Department. As a result, I am happy to announce our support for this week’s Orchestra and Choir concerts, where we covered the cost of a videographer and professional accompanists, respectively. In addition, we supported the professional development of four teachers, who will be able to share with their students the knowledge they are obtaining from classes and conferences they are attending. The Academic Booster Committee also met this month and supported grant requests from the Biology Olympiad Club and the Robotics Club.

I want to thank the PTSA Hospitality Committee for hosting a wonderful Fall Luncheon last Friday. The decorations were festive and the food was delicious. The PTSA also wants to thank the parent volunteers who brought desserts and helped serve lunch to teachers, staff, and administrators, who were very appreciative.

Fall Luncheon: Thank you parents!

Fall Luncheon: Thank you parents!

I also want to thank Kristen Thompson and Christina Murphy for getting everything ready for today’s Saxon Service. It was nice to see our students learning about service and contributing to our community, as well as meeting the parent volunteers who came out today to help.

And mark your calendars for our General Membership Meeting next Wed, Oct 25 at 9 am in the Lecture Hall. I hope to see you at next week’s meeting! Have a wonderful weekend.

volunteers needed!

hearing & vision screenings: As children’s screen time increases – and the use of AirPods and other headphones also increases – their vision and hearing may be affected. Consider volunteering for the annual hearing and vision screenings of students in 10th grade, as well as new students, on Tues, Oct 24 and Wed, Oct 25. We are still in need of volunteers! We need 10 volunteers for each class period when the screening will occur. Sign up using this link.

Training will be provided to all volunteers. Contact Madonna Krawczyk with any questions at [email protected]
