Ongoing
The Oak Park Area Arts Council (OPAAC) is pleased to present the artwork of Robert Dicke at Forest Park National Bank, 7348 W. Madison St. in Forest Park, through the first week in August.
"The show is a study on how Stanley Kubrick created the composition for the image or images from some of his films. Films like “2001: A Space Odyssey”, “Barry Lyndon”, “The Shining” , and “Eyes Wide Shut.” He composited the image to let the audience make a decision as to what they are seeing. What I did is to create similar compositions with the environments or items that I felt that would closely relate to a scene in one of the films. Why was a Masque Mask used in “Eyes Wide Shut?" Was there a secret? How would you feel about being in a lobby and seeing no one but feel someone there? How camera tricks, lighting, lens, and angles help to express the effect.
Hours are Mon.-Fri. 9 am-5 pm & Sat. 9 am - 1 pm. For more info call 708-358-5692.

The Oak Park Area Arts Council presents an art exhibit by Eileen Hourihan McCarthy at the Oak Park Township Senior Services Dining Room, 130 S. Oak Park Ave. in Oak Park, until October.
Eileen's inspiration comes from the education that she received from the wonderful teachers & artists that she knew while attending art school, from years of living in the color-saturated autumns & the translucent winters of New England, and from the ever-changing colors of the waters of Lake Michigan, as they reflect the expansive clouds, light, & sky above. Water, color, light, and nature. These form the essence of her art.
Business hours are Mon.-Fri. 10:30 am-2 pm, closed Sat. & Sun. Info: 708-358-5692.
The Oak Park Area Arts Council is pleased to present Gabriel Soto's series Gallping Pasts, an exhibit of works on paper at Oak Park Village Hall, 123 Madison St. in Oak Park, through the end of August.
Artist's Statement (abridged): The 'Equestrian portrait' has historically been used to depict power in western classical art. In this series, I am deconstructing the motif into a personal reflection on my relationship to Classicism. The 'Horseman' no longer represents a monarch, but rather the artist galloping into the past but still gazing at the viewer, showing his awareness of the present. The horseman now becomes the alchemical figure: a synthesis between our contemporary age and the past in a horizontal line.

Gabriel Soto graduated from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 2017 with a BFA in Painting. He currently resides in Oak Park and enjoys world history and classical art. Info: 708-358-5692.
