Aloha friends, as you may have heard the CDC announced today that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks nor socially distance with a few exceptions. For many this is very welcome news and a cause for rejoicing. However, at this time, CUC will maintain our policy concerning wearing masks while on any Central Union campus and remaining socially distant. For the time being this policy will remain in effect for multiple reasons including:
- We have not yet heard from state or local officials on this announcement.
- We will not have sufficient time to fully consider or implement logistical changes before this weekend's events.
- We maintain our guiding principles of care and thoughtfulness throughout this process. We will not rush decisions that could impact the health and well-being of our community.
Thank you for your kokua, your patience, and your understanding. We will be making necessary changes as we learn more. In the meantime, the ministers, staff, and council leadership of Central Union Church encourage everyone to get vaccinated at the appropriate time. We are moving through this time together, ever seeking to follow the heart and guidance of our God.
