Timothy Lum Yee, The Rev. Brandon Duran and The Rev. Mary Herbig
Tim attends the 7 a.m. service. He is a Civil Engineer with an interest in water quality. He loves CUC for our meaningful friendships and fellowships; the ways in which we learn of God's love and inclusivity; and how we work to share Aloha in our community.

Giving Thanks Together!
Join your friends from Central Union on Thanksgiving. Pastors Brandon and Mary will host a Thanksgiving gathering on Zoom at 11 AM (HST). This will be a chance to talk story with others from Central Union. No registration required, no formal liturgy, just a chance to come together and give thanks. We will set aside a special time for anyone who has a dish or a dessert to show. Be sure to bring a beverage as we will end the time with a toast. Join Pastor Mary and Brandon with the Zoom link below at 11 AM this tomorrow! See you then!

We Need Your Help To Keep On Serving Aloha!
By ‘Serving Aloha ‘ Committee
Calling for canned goods and non-perishable food items! Canned vegetables, fruits, and protein (tuna, salmon, Spam,Vienna sausage, corned beef, etc.).  Crackers, boxed macaroni & cheese, cereals, etc.!
We need them for Serving Aloha, Central Union Church’s food distribution mission to help alleviate the growing food insecurity among our communities because of COVID-19.
Bring the food items to Central Union Church: Women’s Building on Wednesdays, 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. You will find a team of about 30 CUC members and other community volunteers packing and distributing food bags to our guests who come from Kaimuki, Mo’ili’ili, McCully, Kapiolani, lower Makiki, and beyond.
Every Wednesday since Oct. 28, our food distributions have served an average of 300 guests. Serving Aloha is ongoing every Wednesday for as long as the need is there. Hunger does not discriminate, and the people this food reaches is large. They patiently wait in line, with masks on, and stand at least six feet apart. Volunteers greet them with a smile and variations of “How are you today? God bless you!” The guests always answer with a great smile, sometimes a bow, and/or “Thank you, very much.”
All are welcome to join us in our effort to serve the community. We appreciate any extra pair of hands for this ministry even if the volunteer cannot stay for the entire duration of the time slot. To select a time, click here.
Recently, Central Union Church received an official commendation from the Rev. John Dohauer, General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ, for being a "5 for 5" church in 2019. A "5 for 5" church is a congregation that gives financially to: 1. Our Church's Wider Mission, 2. Neighbors in Need Special Offering, 3. One Great Hour of Sharing Special Offering, 4. Strengthen the Church Special Offering, and 5. the Christmas Fund.

This Sunday, in the Thanksgiving spirit of sharing, we are inviting the members and friends of Central Union to donate to one of the three special offerings:
Neighbors in Need: supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the US
One Great Hour of Sharing: supports disaster recovery, refugees, and community development activities around the world
Strengthen the Church: supports the big visions of small UCC churches

You are invited to go the "Donate" page on the Central Union Church website and choose one of the following special offerings to support from the dropdown menu. By giving through the Central Union website you help ensure that your Central Union Church will be a "5 for 5" congregation in 2020!
White Gifts
The traditions we at Central Union Church have held dear for many generations have been put on hold indefinitely or substantially revised to accommodate safety precautions and concerns. Our annual White Gifts program has been impacted by COVID 19, but we are determined to find a way to carry out our mission of providing much-needed Christmas gifts for the social services and ministries we have faithfully partnered with for decades, so that they can offer Christmas gifts to the people they serve.

Here is the plan:
Instead of purchasing and wrapping gifts, those who wish to participate can donate by cash or check, made payable to Central Union Church. IMPORTANT: On the memo line, write White Gifts. Submit your monetary donation anytime between now and December 10. Mail it to:
Central Union Church
Accounting Office
1660 S. Beretania Street
Honolulu, Hawaii 96826

All are welcome to join us!
