Central Union is a part of the wider ‘ohana of churches known as the United Church of Christ (UCC). The values of the UCC inform our theology and shape our structure. So just what are the values of the UCC? What does this mean for our church and our daily life? Let's explore these questions together as we look at our whole holy ‘ohana.

"Red Hill Fuel Leak Creates Ongoing Crises for Families"

Media outlets have reported on details of the Red Hill fuel leak: the amount of fuel released, the risk to our aquifer, and concerns about the jet fuel plume spreading beyond. As weeks gave way to months, thousands of people lived without clean running water.

Unfortunately, Red Hill and its impact on citizens’ well-being has begun to fade from public consciousness. Thus, Faith Action’s Environmental Justice Task Force (EJTF) set out to focus on the narrative of families affected directly by the fuel leak via a virtual panel which featured military and civilian residents whose water came from the contaminated U.S. Navy’s water system. Community Ministry Needs Volunteers!
2022 dates: September 13, October 10, November 8, December 13
On the second Tuesday of each month, join CUC's Community Ministry to prepare and distribute approximately 100 healthy, hot meals to the folks at Keauhou Shelter and the new Family Promise Shelter.

Who and what is needed?
  • 1 shopper who will be reimbursed.
  • 5 people to prep and cook (2:30-5:30pm)
  • 4 to assist with distribution (5:45-6:45pm)

Help with one or more of the tasks. Individuals or families are welcome!
